Newbe with a ? about sterilizing
    #370463 - 08/11/01 11:34 PM (23 years, 6 months ago)

I want to first thank you for reading this post from the new guy. I am going to be birthing tomorrow into a grow chamber using the perlite tek. I have read that it is not that important if you do not sterilize the perlite. My question is, how about the grow chamber itself? I am going to be using a big rubermaid tub that is about 10 inches tall that was previously used to store some books in. I asume that I can wipe it out with some rubbing alcohol but if anyone knows of any major mistake that I may be on the verge of I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Peace be with each of you always, TUT

Alcohol is fine I would wash it out and then lysol it and when you use the perlite tek it is a good idea to add some peroxide(h2o2);)

If all it contained was books, I wouldn't worry, just wash it out with soap and water. I'd be more concerned if ti was used to carry fruit, organic material or lepers.

I prefer a little gasoline in my perlite! hah...

no.. @ 1ml of tea-tree oil will keep the nastys outta that stagnant water..
.. but gas works too
