Oh ya!!!!!!! Like the woman needs to be behind bars. What is she going to do, assault someone with a homemade doily? Like she can't make trades and phone calls from prison.

They should've just fined her ass , sentenced her to a shit load of community service and put her on court supervision. But jail where tax payers barely getting buy are feeding her? Please!

I don't think people who committed non violent crimes need to be put behind bars and fed and cared for with the tax payers money. I will never agree with that as punishment.

In their cases, I believe in STIFF fines and exorbitant amounts of community service. At least with community service and fines, they are forced to give back to the community they took from and disrespected.

Did you know that in North Carolina, murders sometimes get out in 4 years because of over crowding. Should a violent offender get out early to make room for a white collar criminal? Please explain the reasoning and rationing to me. I don't understand it.

This has changed her for the better though. She publicly came out in favor of ending the War on Drugs because of being in prison and realizing the damage it has done.

Another one on our side is always good, especially a famous one like Stewart.

They fall into none violent so i don't think they belong in jail either. That whole situation needs law revamping.

True what ravus said, she is dedicated to making a fuss about people in for durgs when she gets out. On top of that, it's been good for her personally in that without the hectic schedules and demands, she's been able to relax and she and people say, she is back to being the softer person she was 40 years ago and she hadn't realized how hardened she had become until this forced break.

Go figure she would know how to take advantage of the situation and make the best of it. I like her! Who, wouldn't have asked their broker to dump a stock if hey got wind it was going to tank the next day? Anyone would have, she just got caught doing what anyone would've done.

What Federal crime was Ms. Stewart convicted of? Was it insider trading? NO. Was it defrauding the stock holders? NO. She was convicted of lying to investigators (NOT under oath, NOT in a court of law), of obstructing justice for a crime that never happened, a crime that she was not convicted of (?!?). The prosecutors presented no crime of 'insider trading.' She learned from her broker, not from a company insider, that a top executive was selling shares.

Here's the bottom line: Martha Stewart's conviction is accepted by people out of ENVY, BECAUSE SHE IS WEALTHY AND SUCCESSFUL. What you and the millions of the people who are envious of the successful fail to realize is that the same tactics can be used against you if you state to an investigator that (for instance) you did not smoke pot today, or you did not know that your friend sold an eighth of weed. It is a DANGEROUS precedent that we should all be worried about instead of celebrating like some Pavlovian Marxists because a wealthy person has fallen. Insist on your innocence and you can face charges of insisting on your innocence - even though there may be no crime proven or even charged (though the government will word it differently), this is the legacy of the Martha Stewart conviction. Because of this precedent, because of case law, all of us our less secure in our liberties.

Thanks for bringing this up as I forgot to mention that it was her broker who leaked the insider news to her. What was she to do at that point but dump it? Anyone would have, I would have, not out of a malicious intent to screw the other share holders but just out of wanting to save my investment because I could.

If you had $250,000 in a company fresh and your broker called you and told you the company was going to tank tomorrow and advised you to sell, what would you do? Would you say, "Oh no, that's okay, lets just loose it all".

The broker broke the insider trading laws. Whatever happened to him anyway?

Check your facts, Ms. Stewart rejected a plea bargain and went to trial. I already stated what she was convicted of, there was no evidence of 'insider trading' by Ms. Stewart. If you think there was please present it - because the prosecutors surely couldn't even bring charges, let alone convict her on it. The woman was ONLY convicted of expressing her innocence, of exercising her first amendment rights, nothing more!

Envy (of her wealth and success) has EVERYTHING to do with her conviction, read the statements from the jurors. I am open to having my mind changed if you could provide PROOF of Ms Stewart harming others. If you cannot, perhaps you should re-examine your prejudices.

Tell me, how many investors want to LOSE money? It is FOOLISH to lose money when you don't have to. Remind me never to ask you for financial advice.

What Ms. Stewart did WAS NOT insider trading. If you can prove that it was, please do so. Otherwise, please quite disseminating lies.
