Casing - it looks and feels too dry before incubation
    #3702197 - 01/30/05 12:34 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

After my friend put his casing layer on his 1 quart rye casing, he noticed it felt dry and not moist like it did before he nuked it. All of his casings were like this, what should he do?

Perhaps saturate the casing layer again with a spray bottle before it goes into the incubator? Or should he just wait until he fruits the casing before misting?

Yes, he should mist the casing layer before it starts to pin. Don't mist after fruiting or if you do, then make sure to not get any of the water on the shroom pins. Good luck. :mushroom2:

Should he mist the casing layer before it goes into the incubator? He said it feels awfully dry.

Yes...once I case a casing I always mist it down with a 50/50 h202/water mix...that will keep it moist enough until you fruit it, then patch and mist it down well once again.
