slow pinning
    #3702064 - 01/30/05 01:33 PM (12 years, 26 days ago)

the cat cased popcorn with 50/50 coir and verm last week, but now on day 7 no signs of pinning. good substrate depth, temps bang on for fruiting, rh good, and nice cover of myc on the casing (not overlayed). light 12/12. why no pins? last round had much pinning by day 7. is there something the cat is missing?
the cat has a TiT set up and everything seems to be going great guns except . . .
any suggestions would be great.

How are air exchanges?

Did you cold shock?

What sort of temp change did the substrate go through?

Fruiting chamber or are you fruiting in it's own bin with a tight lid?

So are historians going to look back at 'The Great Cake Eaters'? Damn. That was a backwards step in the evolutionary process. We left Shroomheads in the dust. Welcome to the new age of Vermheads.

Keep a close eye on it. You might have mold. It happened to me on my first casing. :frown: The questions above are good ones that you should consider. :thumbup:Good luck. :mushroom2:

good air exchange, cold shocked coming out of incubator to at least 15 degrees c before going into fruiting TiT. fruiting chamber is separate tub, air tight execept for filter patches for air exchange. no visible signs of mold or other contamination. last casings the cat did had the same proceedure and were pinning within 5 days. same strain too. cat is scratching her head about this. perhaps the cat is just worried over nothing and there will be a huge crop of pins tomorrow.

Smart cat.

Excerpt from one of my textbooks:
Therefore, between a then and its matching else, there cannot be an if statement without an else. Statements must be distinguished between those that are matched and those that are unmatched, where unmatched statements are else-less ifs and all other statements are matched.
I wonder if that would make more sense if I was tripping when I read it.

Yes give it a little more time  Even controlled experiments are hard to keep any fluctuation from occuring.
