Index card for seeds.
    #3701480 - 01/30/05 09:22 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Aloha. im about to start my own appt. jungle and i have a question:

when harvesting seeds it can be important to keep a record
of which seeds came from wich plant etc.
and so im making an index card for packing with any seeds i harvest in the future and im wondering what info is important to keep.
so far ive come up with:
-mother (individual name/nr/code of plant from wich was harvested)
-father (the plant used to pollinate)
-species (botanical name)
-genders included in bag
-harvest date

can you guys think of anything that should be added or changed?

For certain species that are hard to get seed from, ie salvia or HBWR, you could note the environmental conditions that the seed-bearing occured in. This could be helpful to others who growing the same plant, and also if/when you move to a new location.
