1 Jar casing?

Could i make a 1 jar verm casing? I was thinking of cutting the cake in half, sitting the 2 halves next to each other in the center of a pretty small styrophome cooler with the top cut out for light???

you certainly can do that. I've never done just one 1 jar, but.. I've had 2 jars cut into halves (vertically, so instead of two small cylanders, there are two semi-cylinders, you know?) and cased over that and have had good luck -- enough for myself to eat and have a couple friends over :) fun stuff.

I did a casing with one leftover jar once and it worked fine. I think I crumbled the cake to get a nice flat layer rather than cutting in half but I doubt there's really much difference.

I have heard that the more points of contact there are with the casing mix, the faster & more even the colonization process.. so i'd crumble the jars contents..
and mix evenly w/ your casing substrate.
