ebay - what would you do?
    #3698319 - 01/29/05 12:32 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

So I sold a totaly legal ethnobotanical on ebay and a couple of days later I get a rating from this kid saying "bad ebayer. item not as described. FAKE goods!). I'm like what the fuck? So I sent him an email asking what the problem was and he said what I had sold him was fake and he knew this for a fact because he'd had it analised at a lab.

I know this ethnobotanical is legit cause its stuff I've grown myself and theres no possible way you could get lab results back in 2 days!

So I mailed him back asking for a copy of the lab results.

I then receive another email a day later that he'd eaten all the stuff (even though not for human consuption was plastered all over the package) and wanted his money back.

Now he's reported me to paypal for selling fake goods and theyre breathing down my neck and he wants a full fucking refund! :cussing:

What would you do?

Damn, I don't know how you could fight that. Maybe tell paypal that he didn't use them for their intended purpose, and consumed a non-consumable? If I ordered a gameboy (non-consumable) and then ate it, I wouldn't expect a refund when I claimed that it didn't work. I know that's not really parallel to your situation, but you get the point.

Otherwise, I might recommend just giving him the refund to not have to deal with the bullshit.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless the transaction was over $200 dollars there is nothing he can do about it.

The transaction was for about $170 dollars. Why does it only matter if its over $200 dollars???

So he ate the lab results?

Tell him you need to see lab results and make sure that he provides contact information for the lab. Call out his bluff.

I'm not quite sure about PayPal though because they can be hard asses. I guess the best you can do is explain the situation and tell them he claims he has lab results but refuses to produce them.

well i had something similar happen to me. it sucks. some guy claims i never sent his cd out - which i did and got confirmation back that it was delivered. i was PISSED. he totally lied and paypal FORCED me to give him a refund - i never did but my paypal account is frozen until i fork over the money to that jackass. my ebay account is also frozen until it's cleared up. i'm not losing money b/c someone can lie and get away w/ receiving a free product.

what KILLS me is when i actually had a problem w/ a seller - he NEVER sent me 2 cds i bought from Hong Kong worth $71 total ($20 for 1 cd and $51 for the other). I complained and eBay's insurance company sent me $1 check back... A FUCKING DOLLAR. why? because my claim must first be over $50... and if it IS over $50... they take a $50 FEE out of it. So... I got a fucking dollar back and the douche bag managed to fuck over some OTHER people after me.

i hate eBay - they support the BAD people and do nothing helpful for the GOOD people.

i'm sorry man - that situation sucks.

Just say he misused the product. If it wasn't meant for consumption, and he consumed it, I doubt paypal/ebay would do anything to you. Though, they have been known to screw over the seller.

Damn, I just started reusing Ebay for buying guitar stuff. This has me a little worried.

Oh well, I got a 72-pin connector for my NES which works great and a Tech21 NYV Killer Wail Wah pedal which sounds awesome. I'll have to be really careful who I buy/sell to I guess.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna battle this one out.

I still have all this guys rediculous emails and have told paypal that he claims he has lab results but refuses to produce them. I also told them he claims to have eaten a non consumable item.

I just hope this idiot doesnt fuck it up for other people selling ethnobotanicals on ebay.
