is pure culture worth the work?
    #369831 - 08/10/01 02:43 PM (22 years, 4 months ago)

hello, i am posting this to see if you think that the extra work of isolating a pure culture on agar is worth the results compared to using syringes. as if it is worth it i would like to experiment.

thanks.
peace!

To me it's less work, I prefer cloneing, you can do 20 plates easy from one mushroom, which will in turn do about 150 jars of grain.

No work at all, and usually with cloneing, almost every dish turns out good and you don't need to make any transfers to other plates.

Faster colonisation of spawn/substrate, heavier pinsets, more even pin sets, and evenly sized fruits. Ya considering its not much work, its definately worth it. With multispore innocs from a syringe, you'll get fruits, but time, size, pin sets are all variable and plus you have to deal with competing strains.
