Adhorts

How do you know when to pick an adhort? I just put
in terrarium about 1.5 weeks ago and have already picked
several full grown shrooms. I have some that don't seem
to be doing much I assume they are adhorts also I have some
that I"m sure are but dont' know if it is normal or not. The cap
never developed and the stem started to turn bluish like a bruised cake. The stem is also not very firm. Are these still ok to eat? This is my first flush ever so any advice would be appreciated. Also how do you know when a flush is done and should I completely clean it of all pins before I dunk and go for flush #2?

Those are abhorts all right. Usually all the shrooms are ready at about the same time. Some will be large and healthy, the smaller ones are abhorts and will not grow to full size even if you leave them.

Also, your abhorts sound like they may have become abhorts because of too high humidity. This causes the mushy and bluish stem. Remember to lower your humidity once they start pinning.

So pick 'em all, recase and hope for a 2nd flush.

By the way, those abhorts are usually very potent. Save up those little guys for a great trip!

yup, they're abhorts, you should pick em off as soon as detected bcs he's consuming nutrients just to stay alive... otherwise, its likely to rot, it gets brown and ppl say it gets black afterwards, ive never got to that point. watch out, a bump on your cakes may also be an abhort or a semi-abhort and should be picked as well. watch out that temp and humidity...
