Human Body Recipe
    #3693609 - 01/28/05 01:16 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

You are not simply a name a last name and a social history. Here's what you're really composed of:

-71% water
-18% carbon
-4% nitrogen
-2% calcium
-2% phosphorus
-1% potassium
-0.5% sulphur
- 0.5% sodium
- 0.4% chlorine
- Plus a good spoonful of magnesium, zinc, manganese, copper, iodine, nickel, bromine, fluorine, silicium
- And finally a small pinch of cobalt, aluminium, molybdenum, vanadium, lead, tin, titanium, boron.

This is the recipe to your existence.

All these materials come from the combustion of stars, and you can find them elsewhere than in your body.
Your water is similar to ocean water. Your phosphorus bounds you to matches. Your chlorine is identical to that which is used to clean pools. But you are not that.

You are a chemical cathedral. You are a play of construction that is dosed, balanced and has mechanisms that are inconceivably complex. Because your molecules are themselves made up of atoms, particles, quarks, emptiness, and everything is tied together by electromagnetic forces, gravitational forces, electronic forces, with a subtlety that goes beyond you.

Nothing that surrounds you in time and space is useless. You are not useless. Your ephemeral life has a meaning. It doesn't lead you to a dead-end. Everything has a meaning. Take action! Do something, may it be something small, but for god's sake, do something of your life before you die. You are not born for nothing. Discover that for which you are born.

What is your infinitesimal mission?
You are not born haphazardly

.

obviously the chemicals which are required in that relative quantity have to be arranged in a very very particular way.

the raw chemistry relates only most distantly to the dynamic organization we call life.

Do breast implants, titanium hip joints, dental fillings, cosmetics, hair extensions, etc. upset the finely balanced chemical cathedral?

No I believe they don't, because these materials are not part of your body, they are not made by it, therefore you aren't any of them and balance is kept.

There's just you (your body) and these materials you added on to it. Two separate things.

Nice choice of words! We are chemical wonders, although the sum of the components are greater than the whole. At any given time, there are hundreds of delicate chemical processes going on within our bodies in order to give us life, many of which are still little understood. In fact, it takes 17 different processes just to get the CO2 out of our blood and into our lungs to be exhaled...

Another interesting fact: Our bodies are made up of 99.99% space.

Apparently human meat tastes almost exactly like pork, so you should be able to use any pork recipes with humans.

Yeah, but the texture is all wrong. At least according to Farmer Vincent.

Anyone ever seen 'Motel Hell'?

Yeah, I like the fact that we are comprised of all the elements in the whole universe, where they exist here richly. 114 of them or something. We are at present a very rich species.
