Substrate grams vs. shroom yield?
    #3692295 - 01/28/05 05:29 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Is there any way to relate the weight of the substrate with the size harvest you should get off it? Seems like pretty consistantly, more mass of substrate = more and bigger flushes of large shrooms. Could you possibly get an equasion like (grams substrate) x (substrate nute concentration) = (expected harvest) ? Seems like it'd be possible, people would just have to figure out the nute concentrations of various substrates.

Its not that simple, it is mostly the depth which gives larger shrooms. Orissas have been grown taller then 20 inches!
The best yielddepth is said to be about 2,5-3 inches though, ask Hyphae!

Yes, every batch of shrooms acts differently. It all depends man. You can get 15 grams from a pf cake, or you could get .2 grams.

1 3/4"-2 is optimal depth IMO Everything will vary alot but they say 1 square foot of bulk substrate should yeild 1 pound of fresh mushrooms (like an ounce and a half dried) IIRC.

It will vary depending on depth of substrate, the substrate itself, the casing, conditions, ect. Personally, a well cased quart of rye will usually yeild be about 2 ounces of 3-4 flushes.

from my experience, (based on the first and second flush) a 2inch thick bed will yield about the same as a 4inch bed. You want more cropping surface for more yield , not more depth

Ya'll be talking about Biological Efficiency-An expression of yield.
