Can you touch a primate how to smoke a few bongloads? Do you think they'd be good to trip on low doses of mushrooms or such with?

Probably not, but imagine how awesome it'd be to be passing bongloads of good bud between you and that ape.

I could imagine Thompson's ape, if he had been able to buy it in Fear and Loathing, would've been something like that.

Some of them already look baked enough though.

You'd probably have to teach it to overcome its natural fear of fire, but once you did that, I think it would be managable. As for psychedelics, I believe Terrence McKenna had some theory about how psychedelics played some part in the evolution of the human brain, so I imagine they would have somewhat similar effects.

Appearantly, according to Terrence McKenna, we ourselves evolved from primates by eating psychoactive mushrooms. So why didn't those guys evolve? Were they the drug prohibitionists of the apes we once were?

In LSD: My Problem Child by Albert Hofmann, he talked about how in primate societies, if you dose one monkey with LSD, even if he doesn't act noticeably different the rest of the apes go in an uproar because he stops following the traditional structure of that society.

However, if it's just you and your pet ape, I think your ape could explore as much as he wanted to and break away from traditional thinking. They look very thoughtful and human-like sometimes, very cool creatures.

At monkey jungle there was this Chimp that they rescued from a Spanish Circus....SOme spanish guy took this thing out of the wild and in order to make it tame eneough for him to handle and entertain the crowd, he continuaslly sedated the poor thing with morphine and traquilizers. Well, when circus season was over, the spaniard just caged him up where he no longer recieved any more narcotics. By this time the monkey was addicted and he went ape shit when he didnt get his dose, he ended up breakin out of his confines and shootin himself up with morphine. The trainer couldnt do shit about it and the rescuers found the monkey all cracked out in some alley of barcelona. This chimp had no teeth and was all ragidy lookin from all the junk he did. As sad as this story was, I couldnt stop laughing at the monkey when she told it.

He didn't claim they were solely responsible for human evolution.  That would just be ridiculous.  Coming down from the trees to the savannah most certainly played a bigger role than that.  He claims that psychedelics may have assisted the development of our large brains.

I bet some aliens used to think of us like we do with apes.

Possibly, but since there's no hard evidence of contact between humans and aliens(mythical heiroglyphs do not count), we can only speculate about that.

the chances of aliens not existing are pretty small when you look at how big our universe is.. As far as intelligent aliens who travel the universe and visit earth ? Who knows.. I for one am doubtful- But there are other ways to send information- maybe the aliens travel our same dream medium- and can visit people through the subconscious by some sort of projection.. This would be the more logical explanation as opposed to silver men in suits in flying saucers.

Even if they contacted us through some non-physical means, I doubt we'd understand their thought process well enough to know how they view us.

I don't see how the oneness of all existence changes anything here.

I don't know, I am no expert.
Sometimes concepts can be comprehended without a common thought process or language or means of communicating. Concepts like what though I am not sure.. Clearly some of the humans who called themselves gods in ancient Egypt had some sort of 'alien' contact. Perhaps they understood better then us simple minded twentieth centurions

All the cells in your body are one also, but will a skin cell at the end of your big toe ever reach a neuron inside your frontal cortex?

Unity does not solve all problems

Or maybe they shared the myth about being gods in order to justify their absolute authority, the same way that all governments try to justify their authority.

Indeed.. which is why the need for subjective experience comes into play for the yin to the yang.. thus my present reality.. and yours?

You could say that cleary, McKenna had some sort of "alien" contact, but I doubt any aliens have ever flown saucers here, unloaded in some desert and took over the government. It's more likely that there are just other planes of existence beyond our normal physical one, and that with the proper ways of travelling to them, such as dreams, DMT, astral projection, or death, you can meet these alien spirits
