how hard is it to even find shrooms?

like could you go down a few miles of farm road and find them in cow crap on the side of the fence or what?

very doubtful to spot mushrooms from the road , but that is how I spotted a field LOADED... If you can see them from the road next to the fence, the field is probably loaded...

Most of the time it takes long walks and keen eyes to scan the tall grass..

Most of the time in cow fields, the grass will be 3-5 inches tall, and a lot of the time the mushroom caps grow flush with the grass and not a centimeter further, so you have to be right on top of them to see.

I have. Down in Tex just cruisin saw em in a persons yard where they had some cows.

how exactly do you know what to look for, does anyone have any examples, such as pictures of them growing in fields/cow dung?

do a search - a question like that is hard to answer... For one- only certain types of active mushrooms grow in cow fields - next- there are TONS of pictures and guides here.. look around.
