 Question to any vendor....

I have, for the past couple years, been collecting seed,info,plants, and ideas. Most having to do with ethneogenics of all sorts... I was curious as to if any special permits/licenses were needed in starting a mail order business dealing with these sort of products (also glass pipes)? Besides the obvious like registering business name and tax stuff of course :) Any info appreciated...

If you just want to do it for a hobby or for fun you don't need any licenses or permits. If you have enough stock, and the brains to make a webpage, go for it.
'Taz' is more than a mods name, it stands for 'temporary autonomous zone' which is where the internet is supposidly headed. This basically means a 'lawless zone' full of sex sites, drug sites and hot software, etx.
Just be aware of any laws you may not want to break.
However, if you truly want to operate a legit business, perhaps a shop, then, yes, you will need a business license. I would recommend taking a small business couse at your local college. They will fill you in on the details.

ok thanks for the replies guys..... i have looked into all this quite a bit and been to all the online small biz references. and im actually currently going to college for small biz managment... i am just having trouble finding any state laws and other legal issues(if any) that I have deal with selling spores and the like.. so once again thanks..

Depending on how "involved" you'd like to get there are a few things you may need.
You'll probably want a D.B.A (Doing Business As) or Fictious Name with your state. This basically allows you to work under a different name, it also allows you to cash checks, money orders etc under that name.
If things really get going you'll probably want a Tax I.D. number. Its just a Social Security number but for businesses. These come in handy when you're buying from manufacturers or if you're trying to establish credit with your suppliers. OH, suppliers... Many suppliers require references. They want to know if you pay your bills on time. So if they ship out a fantastic new item to you, they want to make sure that you'll pay them when they send out their invoice:) The references are usually 3 ref. + one bank ref.
Some require 6 business references and one bank ref....Establishing lines of credit with a company can keep your business going when your cash flow is a little low, so its a nice thing to get started.
Now if you're really into it, just get your comany incorporated. This might be helpful for you becuase if someone dies because of some odd ethogen they can "technically" only claim a lawsuit towards the company and not go after your personal assets. But depending on the circumstances thats not always the case. In most though, it is.
There are tons of things you can do, but start off with getting a DBA and work from there:)

By the way, if you want to be a 'legit' spore vendor, they are going to want to know where you get the spores.
I guarantee they are not going to give you a license to grow them!

Disclaimers don't always work. With a corporation they can only sue for the companies assets, not yours. If you are a private business and get sued they can take your house, car, furniture etc. Corporations are cool, but you get double taxed.
