Cubicism
    #3684901 - 01/26/05 08:58 PM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Hello everybody! I've been browsing this forum for some time now, just waiting to read something which would merit my going through the steps to register and post a message. Well, I finally found some incentiveAs I was browsing through the Trip Tips thread, I found this gem

After a good deal of reading what appears to be the product of a schizophrenic, I finally stumbled upon something I could look up in an attempt to understand. I tried, for a minute or two, to conceptualize time as a cube. My attempts were in vain. Since there were (seemingly) two individuals discussing the "Time Cube" I decided to go google the term. What I found was a littledisturbing. I was deffinetly intrigued. "This seems like the framework of a cult." Lowe and behold, a little digging, and there it was- The Holy Church of the Time Cube. They claim to be multi-denominational, yet the "discoverer" of the theory claims that his theory disproves monotheism. Seems like the world is in store for another Scientology-like mind-control cult. Anyway, I find this stuff very interesting. Any thoughts?

Gene Ray's (the time cube guy) story is pretty funny.

Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Ray

Ray's proposed solution to the problem of "pyramiding" was a million-dollar marbles tournament. The million-dollar prize would attract people concerned about the long-term implications of society's "pyramiding" and|or disillusioned with its current state, who would then be convinced of Ray's views through the experience of playing marbles inside a giant sphere. The 1987 St. Petersburg Times article reports that Ray was planning to form an "Order of the Sphere" to promote his philosophy. It is not known if the Order of the Sphere ever became a reality.

Glad to see another wikipedian! Yeah, he is quite a character. The Data Engine referenced on wikipedia seems like it could be a promising tool for research with a little refinement.

Wikipedia is a really cool experiment. It's a great source of entertainment, and information.
