speaker problem
    #3683955 - 01/26/05 05:50 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

For some reason, my speakers do not play both right and left channels. If I just barely put the plug into my soundcard, then the left channel plays. If I securely put it in, then the other channel plays! All my speakers play some sound, but never both channels at once. This is extremely frustrating- how do I fix it? Alternatively, how do I make my sound settings mono?

Been a while since I was all-the-time in windows, so...

I believe you can go to Control Panel -> Sounds And Audio Devices :: Audio tab

There should be an option under there (possibly an "advanced" option) for setting up your speakers, and mono *should* be an option.

A possible problem which I have had that was similar was that one of the wires connecting the speakers was a bit loose. If its not a configuration problem it could be that you just need to wiggle the back of the wires that are connected to the speakers a bit until you hear both of them playing at eqaul volume.

actually, what I know is this then:

both signals get to the wire.
When it is plugged in all the awy, only one signal gets to the speakers.

So, there's a connection problem between the wire and sound card.. But how do I fix that? and is it the wire or the soundcard? hmm

Could always even be the connector. Try some headphones to rule out the sound card.
