Douglas Fir and Cyans

Stamets list Douglas Fir as one of the suitable softwoods for Cyans.
It's often used by mulch suppliers locally, I may test it out.

Has anyone else had success using Douglas Fir to fruit Cyans?

I was hoping to re-pose this question. The referred link doesn't actually lead to anything specific regarding cultivation on Douglas Fir. I just received a pile of Doug Fir sawdust, and I wonder what I can grow on it. Stamets, and other sources claim that Cyanescens, Maitake, and certain strains of oyster (pleurotus pulmonarius) can grow on fir...

Anyone have any experience? advice?

Thanks!

go to sporeworks.com and check out the cyanofriscosas strain. its a made up name for a new species that has been found in california. it loves douglas fir and is taking over in ca.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Thank for that response, the cyanofriscosas looks really interesting, and I think I'll make a little patch of it outside -

To repeat the original question, does anyone have any experience fruiting on sterilized doug fir sawdust?

I've found info indicating that I can fruit things like Maitake, pleurotus pulminarious, and cyanescens, but I'm dying to hear if anyone has done it, so that if it is a failure, I don't have to reinvent the wheel...

Thanks!

You can grow P cyanescens on Douglas fir, but not sterilized.  Don't even attempt it indoors.
