My First Baby

Check this out, its my first little one.



There is another one coming out on the opposite side of the cake, but they are only coming out of the bottom of the cake. Why is that happening instead of mushrooms all over the place? Do I need to dunk my cake or somthing? Thanks for your help shroomery.

i dont do alot of cakes i usually do casings but every time i have done cakes they always pined from the bottom i wish i knew why lol

The mushroom is fruiting from the bottom of a PF cake on top of moist perlite. I don't see any pin formation anywhere but the bottom of the cake. If it only pins from there, what is a good approximation of how much I can possibly get? 1-2 grams dried? I have 2 more cakes that are almost done and I think this time I am going to do a casing. Thanks for yalls responses, Chronic

Ususally there are more pins around where the brf verm mix meets the verm layer. When you say bottom of the cake im assuming you mean where the dry verm layer was. I like to let some of the mycelium take over a bit of the verm before i birth because where theres more moisture theres more mushrooms.

It is fruiting far from the cake, i think you should dunk it after this flush, seems like your mycel has gone on a search for water.

You should roll your cakes in a nice thick layer of vermiculite and that should help them pin all over. Mushrooms dont seem to like to pin from the raw myce but more from anything touching it; ie verm.
