The Gray Universe

If you could see the universe as a whole, what color would it be?
The universe now is basically white stars on a black background spread out. This would make gray. It sort of symbolizes life's struggles to me. You have both the good and the bad, the darks and lights. When you mesh them together you get gray.
But if you zoomed all the way out, wouldn't you just get a huge ball of energy? Life is a vibration in the gigantic firey bang of existence. Eventually it expands into a gray universe. Everything then decays so that a new bang can happen.

There is no bad in the bigger picture, it's all good... Our strugles and pain are insignificant next to the glory of the universe. We are just frightened children that get bitten by cats and start to cry because of it.

when it comes to the universe, which is theoretically never ending, one could never zoom all the way out. If the theory is correct, there would always be more.

I have some really good input for this one, but unfortunantly I have lost the article so I can't site it. In 2002 Discover magazine ran an article which was exactly what you are talking about, the average color of the universe. I had always supposed a sort of grey too. From there findings (of course, they didn't map the entire universe) they found a trend towards a dull magenta color... not gray!

I think it would be the color of your eyes from the stand point of your eyes, maybe I don't understand the idea.

not all stars are white oahu ours is more golden than white there are white dwarfs, red giants, brown dwarfs, the list goes on i dont know them all but needless to say the shroom hermit is right i read that article on www.space.com awhile back. I remember them saying it was a Khaki color tho ill try to find it.

i would focus in on the nebuli, my zoomed out universe would be multicolored, and beautiful, to me, symbolizing life.

this article says its that nasty 70's green, but then they found out they were wrong and changed it to a beige or Khaki color.

thats the last time i heard about. It sounds convincing, at least. peace

I bet if you zoomed really far out you'd end up at a quark, and then an electron and then an atom, until you were right back where you started.

There must be something smaller than a quark because there are more kinds of quarks..
So these kinds of quarks must be made out of different quantities of the same particle

"There must be something smaller than a quark because there are more kinds of quarks..

Or they are made of different matierals which are in turn created by even smaller particles, i mean technicly speaking, it could go on forever.

some quarks are made of other quarks - they are composite others are simple. there might be something smaller.
they still have to work out if it is a close enough model and if so how long is a string?
