In the Bible, Jesus says "I am the way, the truth, and the light. No one gets to the Father except through me." Christians have traditionally interpreted this as meaning that only people who accept Jesus as their personal savior and believe in the Bible will go to heaven. But let's step back for a moment and think about just what Jesus is. Is he his physical body? If that were the case, then he wouldn't exist anymore. Is he his experiences? Well, do you exist without your experiences? To me, it seems there is a certain essence of our being which is our true identity. In Buddhism, it is referred to as our Buddha nature. So Jesus was really talking about the essence of his being--his Christhood. I believe this essence was love. By loving one another as Jesus loved the world, we are being Christ-like, and this, I believe is what Jesus was getting at. No one gets to the Father except by showing love and compassion for one another.

Jesus is repeating his father's words. "I am your master i'll show you the way."

Simple. Yet too complex to understand?

That is precisely the way that I like to interpret those words too. But interpretations don't really matter. What matters is that the words get you to love the world like he did.

Another interesting theory (which is very plausable but unsubstantiated except for some curious passages in the new testament) is that Jesus and his disciples found god through either psilocybe or Amanita mushrooms. The location and description of these shrooms would have to be kept a secret to prevent the masses from over-eagerly consuming them all without proper spiritual guidance. So he could've been saying "No one is allowed to get to the mushrooms without my guidance."

just a theory, but very interesting.

Paou this is why organized religion fails, if jesus was alive today he would not attend church. All religions are based upon the golden rule, do unto others as you would do to yourself or whatever. The problem is that most organized religions seem to think that there need to be rules to adhereing to this rule, and so you have a million different demoninations and religions all preaching the same thing with slightly different rules.

Personally I dont have faith that there was or is a God or that jesus ever existed(Im not saying its not possible only that I havent seen any proof), but i do try to follow the golden rule. Some people have to have a reason to follow it so they go to church, and believe in the mythology, I dont need a reason like that, it just seems like the "right" way to go about things.

funny thing is,
people who do "look within"
often seem to understand jesus and the ideas he cultivated.

people who are superstitious and fearfull however need a lot of structure...

this is not like getting cannonized or even recognized - and it has nothing to do with the immaculate....
