ok, i asked this question in the 'shroom huntin forum but they went all apeshit and went on and on about stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with my original question..... anyways, Do mushrooms produce heat? any at all, any whatsoever, are they colder than the normal air temp? warmer? etc etc.... what im really trying to find out is if i can find them with an infrared scope that belongs to a rifle... and no im not planning on taking the rifle with me....

When the mycelium is growing, it produces a little heat. The colonizing jars are about 2-5 degrees higher than the temperature of your room. - Celsius

Shrooms may produce tiny amounts of heat but so does every other living or decomposing thing. Grass, cow pies, rotting leaves, toad stools...

Are you sure it's a infra scope? I did not know they made those for the public. I know they make night vision scopes and binoculars which use what little light there is at night or a small laser light to allow you to see almost as clearly as daylight..but they do not measure heat signatures at all. You also need a special permit to use such scopes for guns. Using such a scope for Mushroom Hunting might allow you to see the lighter colored caps of mushrooms more easily at night though. I have no experience using them myself. Aye your other post in Mushroom Hunting got way out of hand. heh :)> "That is not dead which may eternal lie..and with strange eons even death may die."Edited by Great_Cthulhu on 08/08/01 11:58 PM.
