Burnout Seeks Guidance :)
    #368158 - 08/07/01 12:03 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

Yesterday I found some mushrooms. The trip was spent reflecting on how messed up I am and how i have no goals, no motivation, and no purpose.

Ive been smoking weed for the past year pretty much every day. All of my money i recieve goes to it (which isnt alot). I cant remember what day it is or what happened to me a few days ago, because everything has turned into one big blur.

I quit going to highschool around 7 months ago, and now im in a homeschool program, just because i couldnt stand going to a school with so many fake assholes that judged everyone by their looks and what kind of car they drove. I guess every highschools like this, but i couldnt stand mine, and had to get out.

The last few parties ive been to ended up with me sitting on the floor by myself not talking to anyone because i was too stoned to think. Im afraid to talk because i "know" that everyone in the room is judging me behind my back. I know its stupid, but its just something i cant seem to pull myself out of. Ive always been the shy type of guy. Im a middle class, average looking, white kid.

I cant stand watching TV anymore. I hate reality shows, I hate MTV, i hate pretty much everything except the Discovery Channel. I dont know why i feel so alienated from society now. Ive done DXM, acid, mushrooms, X... I havnt really gone overboard with any of these drugs like i have with weed because its not as easily available. I feel like Im retarded. My brains pretty fucked up, I cant remember anything. Sometimes i walk around in a daze, wondering what the fuck im doing. Fucking drugs...

Well im going to quit smoking, and see if that helps. The purpose of this post is that when i was trippin on shrooms yesterday i kept getting this FEELING that i needed someone to come to me and tell me what i should do, and guide me. I need a role model or something, i dont know. All of my friends are druggies, so they cant help. My parents wouldnt understand... Maybe someone, somewhere, will know exactly what im going through and can give me some advice on how they corrected themselves. Ive lost all my motivation to do anything. I find myself wishing i could go live in a hippie commune or something and just get away from society and all of its fakeness.

I know everyones probablly tired of people posting about all of their emotional problems, but i really need some help and i dont know where to turn. Theres got to be more to life than just getting fucked up... If someone wants to talk to me online my AIM name is OpiatedXM. Maybe i could get some book recomendations? ANYthing to help me feel better about myself and everyone around me.

peace.

jesus christ...have you been spying on my life? your story is very similar to my life. The last couple trips on mushrooms have always made do alot of deep thinking and it seems to always be negative ie. "what the point of living?", "does anyone even care?"...but im feeling better these days. what i did was try to become closer with my firends, open up to them. A good friend is all you need. go back to school too.

Well, I do not get tired of people posting there problems and reaching out for a little help or guidance. Some people do over do it but that is life.
Discovery, animal planet, national geographic channels are my favorite, I love to lay down with my son and watch them, He is 3 months old so I am sure he does not understand it but he makes noises the whole time and giggles here and there.
It is my favorite pass time now.
As far as your other feelings please(keep posting if it makes you feel any better) go see a doctor depression is a very serious illness, just go see him tell him what is in your head or how you have been feeling, so you know whether it is or is not depression.
drunkgoat's idea is good as well but see a doctor also. Depression is quikly becoming the leading cause of suicide in the U.S.
It is treatable with medication.

i am in a semi-similar situation. after having done acid i noticed all the fake shit about life (all a fucking grade is is a letter for chrissake) after doing E I noticed that our world is based purely on judgement of people (true friends like you for who you are, not how much money you have) and all this shit. i mean, ive realized how fucked up the world is, but i dont let the world bring me down with it. i enjoy my life under my terms, and i dont give a fuck what people say about what i do because at least im enjoying my life. try that. and, like you, i feel like the second i walk into a room and everybody is laughing they are laughing at me. i dont take it personally and i highly doubt they ARE laughing at me. so i just brush that shit off and have fun.
my paranoia has gotten very bad, to the point where i cant usually think thoughts around people because i truly believe they can hear what im thinking. its really that bad, but sometimes i dont give a fuck and i just carry on with my life.

in conclusion, dont let other people bring you down. you have only one life (if you dont believe in an afterlife, which i sure as hell dont) so you might as well live it up and enjoy it. depression really is a wasteful emotion. it wastes time and energy. i used to be depressed until i realized that i dont care what people think. do what you think is right.

as for dropping out, most of my friends have dropped out of high school (or have been kicked out for alcohol/drugs) and truly they aren't going anywhere. it is your choice, but i suggest that you at least make some money or think about where you want to go in life, no matter what you want to do (music, drug research, etc etc) its all your choice and no college isnt necessary to live though society has tried to teach that getting good grades is the only way to "succeed" in life. not true at all. sure a great job will get you lots of money, but ive seen hard jobs/work and money "kill" more people than people who have a simple job, low pay, but more enjoyment in life. more money does not in any way mean more happiness. in fact it means more problems in your life. i learned this through my dads problems. he is very wealthy and has a really hard job but he is never happy and always desires more money and the highest tech TV's, etc. i am happy when i get a dollar and can see friends. ultimately, the path you take is your own, but choose it wisely and only listen to what people say, don't necessarily take their advice. if they do say you will go nowhere in life, don't listen to a word they say and prove to yourself you will make your life as great as possible, no matter what you do.

Almost everybody is a slave to society and the government; nobody says their own thoughts, they only say what the government says. Notice how people judge each other depending on race, wealth, clothes they wear, etc etc. They don't truly believe this consciously, but society and MTV have shown them that anybody who isn't white/black, rich/poor, wearing the newest styles etc. is not "cool." If you ask somebody what "he thinks" about drugs, if he is straightedge, he will tell you EXACTLY what the government has told him though he has never done it himself. He will try to influence you they are "bad" etc just because the GOVERNMENT said so. Notice this trend in life. Not many people are themselves, rather they are products of the system. You, and fellow psychonauts, are on a level above everybody else because we understand life a lot more than people who just do anything the government/society says to do just because the government is "smarter" than us all.

Just to put this all into conclusion, don't take people's bullshit. Live your life, after all, it is YOUR life.

a few more personal words:
fuck trends
fuck "brand names"
fuck materialism

do what you want, and have fun in life

We're all MADD here...

I agree with everything that the other people have said in their replies. I smoke pot a lot. There have been times when I would get depressed and feel like shit and want to crawl home to my parents. I stopped smoking for a little while and let my head clear up. Things got better. Things DO get better. As for television, I pretty much only watch Discovery, Disc. Science, Animal Planet, The Learning Channel, Travel... those sorts of things. They are REAL, unlike most of the other garbage on TV(especially those reality shows). You are real. and believe it or not, there are other good, real people around you. If you sit on the floor and don't talk to anybody, you'll never find out who are good people and who aren't. A few things I've realized about life: 1. Parents understand more than you can comprehend. I know it seems like they can't or don't, but trust me, they do(I got sent to military school, I thought understanding was the last thing my parents did. It turns out, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me(I grew up and matured more in that year than ever in my life)). they love you more than anyone in your life ever will. Ask the guy who watches Discovery with his baby. 2. Love yourself. Love yourself for who you are. Who the fuck cares what other people think about how you dress or what car you drive? Those are the superficial bad people you don't want in your life anyway. 3. To each his own. I'm pretty sure you get this one. 4. Don't hold grudges. Life is too short to be angry. Let things roll off your back. What good does it do to carry all that hate inside of you? 5. Stand up for what you believe in, but be open minded to others' views. Don't automatically say someone is wrong if they have a different belief than you, but don't fold everytime someone says you're wrong. 6. Drugs are not bad. They can lead to an open mind, a liberal outlook, and good times. So many people say they are because thats what they've been told. 7. Don't believe something just because you're told its so. Always ask why. Never stop learning.
Granted, I'm probably not much older than you, but I think I've been through almost everything you've said. The next few years will be the most free and opportunity laiden of your life. Make the most of them. Have fun. Don't sit around in a funk. Be yourself and be happy. Stop smoking out for a little while and let your head clear. Try to gain focus and direction in your life while your head is clear, then you can smoke again. I've been where you are, and the pot has everything to do with the lack of motivation to do anything. Think about what you want to do with your life, and I don't just mean a job. Think about things you'd like to do during your lifetime. What do you want to contribute while you're here? Don't force it. Take your time. I know this sounds cliche, but stay in school. You don't have to have a formal education to be smart, but it definitely makes it easier to do what you want in life when other people know you're smart. My friends dad went to one semester of college, dropped out, and now he's selling his business for $7 million. Not bad for a highschool diploma. My mom is another example. She never went to college, couldn't afford it. Now she owns Ice cream shops and coffee bars and makes more money than my dad who is one of the best doctors in the country. I know this might make me seem like a spoiled rich kid, but I'm not by a long shot. I was never in need of anything growing up and I realize that I'm very lucky for that. I never had the trendy clothes or Air Jordans. I did have nice things, but I was always taught to appreciate money and hard work. When I was 12 and wanted to race BMX, my dad made me go out and earn the $300 to buy the bike. Ok, I've gone off on a rant. I just wanted you to know that because my parents are wealthy, I don't have a skewed view of the world. In fact, I think that is the first time I've ever admitted that my parents are wealthy. I've just had a breakthough:) Most importantly, BE HAPPY. Its not always easy, but with the right mindset, its always possible. Things get better. There are lots of good people here who are more than willing to listen and offer advice. You're never alone. We're always here.
Totally sincerely,
Tim

One more thing. Don't live your life with no regard for others. Live your life to be happy, but don't be happy at the expense of others' grief. I have found that making other people happy is one of the greatest joys of life. thats my 2 cents

Wow..I am glad to see that people are still giving good advice here! You guys are really great! Well all I can say is try and steer away from drugs....although in some instances they can have a very mind opening effect, too many will depress you. You are having bad trips because you are not happy with how your life is going. Your problems are amplifided by drugs so you really feel them and it affects you alot. I would reccomend that you discontinue any drug use and see how that makes you feel...if you are still having these feelings you should definately see a doctor..there is nothing wrong with seeking help..take care

Wow, so much of what everybody says is similar to my life as well.  My parents are seperated and are wealthy.  However, I was never spoiled and had to help out with my parents business and work on many projects with them.  When I see so many of the people from my school (Just graduated from HS), they are so manipulated by society it drives me nuts!  I've also been an everyday toker.  I am planning on putting weed aside during the beginning of college (likely not for long), and make sure I am clear-headed enough to be able to succeed and do what I want with my life to feel comfortable.  It's odd, because this last year i got 4.0's both semesters but I've never been smokin' more.  I'm thinkin I got away with too much (cheating mainly) and it's made me think that everything will be easier than it actually will.  And the television - my god, you guys are right on track.  TLC, discovery, some cool documentaries, etc are the best programming there is (as well as the more than occasional comedy).  Reality tv... no way, that shit sucks.  I can't believe how manipulated people are, it is so shocking that society has essentially brainwashed so many people.  Anyways, it's real late and i smoked a lot of weed earlier so i'm gettin kinda sleepy .  Goodnight and take care!  Good luck dazed - not that luck has anything to do with anything...

i like advice from posts... i'm spoiled, have 'trendy' clothes, hang out with 'popular' kids, i've never worked a day in my life and still feel like an awkward... i just went to a psychologist and he told me i'm bi-polar, i am getting meds soon... hopefully they'll do something to stop my paranoia

HI Dazed,

There's already been some really good advice in this thread, but I'd also like to throw in my tuppence worth. Your situation sounds very similar to where I was about 4 years ago, but have faith, things will get better.

Ive been smoking weed for the past year pretty much every day
The first thing you need to do is cut out the weed for at least 2 weeks. If you are in a state of mild depression (Which it sounds liek you are), weed can cause huge ammounts of lethargy, which is turn leads to increased depression, insecurity, paranoia, and loss of self-value.
Within 3 or 4 days of stopping the weed, things will become much clearer, and by the time 2 weeks are up, you'll feel like a new person with a new perspective.

I quit going to highschool around 7 months ago, and now im in a homeschool program, just because i couldnt stand going to a school with so many fake assholes that judged everyone by their looks and what kind of car they drove.
If you are happy in your homeschool program, then I see no problem with this. To be honest, when Iook back at my time in school, I hated it. There were so many arseholes, whose sole purpose seemed to be to make my life a living hell, and my education suffered because of this.

The one lesson that I wish I had learned whilst I was in school is that people only have the power that you give them. Some people may be so tied up with their materialistic world that they are complete judgemental arseholes, but for this to affect you, you have to let it. If you can remain true to yourself, and know inside of you that these people are wrong, then they instantly lose any power that they had over you. Yes, they may judge you because of the clothes you wear, or the car you drive, but if you are happy with your clothes and your car then what does it matter what they think?
One key point to remember is that these people are only acting in this way because of their insecurities. If they can judge people as 'worse' or less sucessful than themselves because of what they own, then this makes them feel better about themselves. By realising these things don't really matter, you already have one over on these people, and by realising this you can progress further and be happier than they ever can.
Don't worry about that these people think. Try to feel compassion for them and their narrow view of the world, and all of a sudden it doesn't matter any more.

I cant stand watching TV anymore. I hate reality shows, I hate MTV, i hate pretty much everything except the Discovery Channel.
In general, Television has a huge control over the minds of society and most people don't even realise this. They sit glued to their TV's every night, all the time soaking up other peoples beliefs, opinions and ideas, and turn these onto their own without even realising it. Images of how we are supposed to behave, how we are supposed to look, what morals we are supposed to hold, and which direction is the correct one to follow flow out of the television almost continuously and are readilly absorbed by the masses in the name of entertainment.
I say stick to the discovery channel, it's one of the few channels that I believe make the most of television as a medium for communication and education, which after all was the original idea of the television.

Don't forget about the simpsons though... You've gotta watch the simpsons :)

Im afraid to talk because i "know" that everyone in the room is judging me behind my back. I know its stupid, but its just something i cant seem to pull myself out of.
Don't take this the wrong way, but are they judging you, or are you judging them?

Maybe someone, somewhere, will know exactly what im going through and can give me some advice on how they corrected themselves. Ive lost all my motivation to do anything. I find myself wishing i could go live in a hippie commune or something and just get away from society and all of its fakeness.
Society is fake. Governments, Corporations, Money, etc are all abstract concepts which don't exist, but these are the main features of society. Most people do not realise this, but for society to be sucesful it is essential people do not realise. Think of the film the marix, people do not realise the matrix is fake, and would not accept it if you tried to tell them. If they realised then the whole basis of the matrix would colapse.
Whilst society is fake, don't forget that it also has many positive aspects. Society improves out standard of living, it provides us with luxuries and many oportunities that would be otherwise unavailable. We have good medical cover, and we have masses of information available to us on a huge range of topics.
The answer is not to deny society and to try and escape it, as you will never do this, but to understand it is not real, and learn to use it to your advantage. Get yourself a job, get yourself a home and use the money you earn to live your life the way you want to live. This is what is important. Do things you want to do, go places to want to be, and don't let anyone or anything dictate your path to you. If you do this, you will quickly meet many like minded people, and I guarentee things will get much much better.

Take care

Phil

Definetly cut out the weed for some time.
It`l be like coming out of a fog. But it will also suck a bit.
But then again weed isnt heroin so laying of the weed
for a short while should not be that big of an deal.

Hope it all works out for you. Theres plenty of people out
there that feels like you. I think you will be able to pull
yourself up from the low you are going through.

Peace man take care.

Wow... Its so reassuring to have so many people that know what im talking about. Ive been thinking alot over the past couple of days, and Ive done some reading to try and calm my mind.

I thought about it, and realized that i WAS judging a lot of people that could of been thinking the same thoughts as myself, just because i was too paranoid most of the time to let down my guard and talk to them. Maybe everyone at school isnt as bad as I think. Maybe they just want to fit in and express it the wrong way... I think going back to schools what im going to do, because i cant seem to force myself to do the homeschooling program. Maybe it will force me to get more organized and motivated.

I havnt thought too much about what i want to do in the future, but I know it will be something i enjoy, even if i dont make an even average income. I dont want to be unhappy and work a boring job just so i can save up my money for no real purpose, like my parents. Thanks everyone for the great advice, its really great to be able to hear from so many like-minds...

P.S. - Of course i watch the Simpsons! :)

Heya

I cant tell you for sure but it helps me if i have some kind of hobby. Anything you can do with your full heart in it. Something thats giving you some response in form of success.
Perhaps something aside from drug use would be better. Something where you can create things, like programming (i did this sometiemes) or art or whatever.
And if you dont like TV, dont watch it. I also dont watch TV.
I also think when you try to make other people (a good friend, not the whole society) happy thats VERY nice for them (obvious) but also for you because it gives a good feeling :-)
Search for someone who likes you and the other way round. Someone that can give you a shoulder to lean at it.
Speek about your problems. And think about em. Where do they come from. Where does your current way lead to. What do you have to change in your life to give it a different direction.
Ok, i must admit its all pretty much theory and perhaps wont do it, buts its worth a try.
Another thing: Dont stand still. If you dont change you wont be able to change your life. I mean, dont sit there and be depressed. Just sitting around doesnt help very much.
All the other people who posted here are perfectly right i think. So i wish you good luck and peace in your future.

Tengu - der gern selber nach seinen Ratschl?gen leben w?rde.

sup dazed,

1. cut back on weed(you've heard this up there but do it, it'll help) some people react to large amounts of weed over the course of a long time with very adverse effects, learn to handle weed on a daily basis by slowly increasing your dosage from zero after a couple weeks break. weed is good, it can be a very positive thing, heres a suggestion get a loose smoking schedule, say you'll get your shit done during the beginning day(i.e. school work, errands, practicing guitar, you know etc) then around 5 or 7 or 9 or whenever you're finished with everything have a toke. Have some more if you want, it'll be a satisfied toke cause you know that you've accomplished a lot today. This is just a suggestion.

2. Physical activity. Run, swim, bike, meditate, yoga, anything to get your body working, and sweating, and heart beating, you'll see drastic changes in your attitude, you may think yeah right what the fuck does this guy know, but just give it a try for YOURSELF for a couple days, if youre out of shape go out and take a 1 mile run/walk and slowly increase the distance and speed. This will do wonders to your body. Ever hear "your body is a temple" well respect that, this sounds funny, but either get a bong or best case scenario get a vaporizer, you're already damaging you lungs with smoke, dont smoke joints, bowls that give you more carcinogens.

3. When you go to a party, this is what I have gotten through experience, go easy on the herb/alcohol/etc. You will have a much more enjoyable time, and be able to meet new people without looking like an idiot.

This is just my opinion, but the majority of kids on drugs depression cases, are not (in my opinion stressing this fact) clinical depression. It's lethargy, paranoia, mild depression from drugs. Do yourself a favor and dont go to a doctor, you'll just pay money to be put on meds that will react badly to drugs you might want to take later. Get outdoors in the fresh air, sunshine, get a multivitamen take that. Eat healthy. You'll feel better, pm me or post your results within a couple weeks following my suggestions, let us know how you're feeling. I'll keep the thread bumped so it'll be on top for ya to easily see.

Wow.. I just love this community so much! Everyone's thoughts and opinions - it's such a great thing to just come and read what other minds are contemplating.  I know I already posted on this thread, but I just have to say how much I appreciate everyone contributing to these great conversations.
As for the simpsons - my absolute favorite show - i've never missed an episode (have about 50 or 60 on vhs and beta tapes)!
thegoldenteacher - great post - i agree with you completely.  There is spectacular advice in this thread that everyone can learn from - and make themselves happier as people just livin' in a world with more people.  Good luck everyone and remember that the most important thing is that you're happy - and that you could care less what everyone else thinks.

Wonderful advice.. This community does kick ass. Fuck what superficial people think, don't let them push your buttons..alot of them haven't realized much yet but they could, just feel sorry for them they have to waste their time doing silly shit like putting people down. it's what you think that truly counts. It does feel good to make good friends happy. *Spread happiness =)

what an inspiring thread we have here. I've printed out the whole thing and I'm framing all the posts and putting them up on my wall. (just kidding) but I should. This thread has changed my life. ( well, sort of) When I first started looking through the posts at the shroomery I figured there would just be a bunch of computer retards being all retarded and shit, but I guess I am the retard. You guys actually seem to be the coolest people in the world. Real people. That's rare these days. Keep on postin'! Okay, sorry for continuing this post, it's going on for way too long...

Hi everyone... ive recently committed myself to learn how to meditate and things are going a lot better because of it. Ive also been reading books on Buddhism, and while i dont claim to be a monk, i do try to follow the teachings of compassion and understanding. Meditation in particular has helped me do away with stress that seems to be worse now that ive stopped smoking... I would reccomend it to anyone thats having trouble with their life.

Everyone at these boards has been very helpful to any questions ive had, and im thankful for the guidance and advice... I wish i knew some of you in real life :)

peace

I'm sure this post has struck a chord in a lot of people here who thought they were alone in this type of scenario.
All the advice i have seen has been spot on, because i think i have like a lot of others been through this feeling so many times, and the key to sorting your head out and getting some positive ideas, like so many of you have rightfully suggested is to just have a break from all drugs at least for a few weeks, because it really does help. Most people start using drugs basically for fun or positive experiences, but its easy to become disillusioned and develop a negative outlook which usually gets you down in a hole. So give it a break, look after yourself, eat right, do some excersise, get some creative outlets, and get some kind of goals and directional motivation, then when you have all this sorted out in your head, you can end your break of drugs if you want, as long as its for the right reasons.

and i couldn't awake from the nightmare that sucked me in and pulled me under

Dazed,
I would like to say I agree with golden teacher fully about exercise. Now that you've taken up meditating, I might suggest Yoga to compiment your relaxation. I have tried meditating, but found my ADD to be too much of a distraction. I am VERY happy to read that you're doing better and that you're going back to school. Keep up the meditating and keep practicing compassion and understanding for the rest of your life and you'll be a better person than all of us here. Peace and much happiness to you.
Much love,
djRetox actually, Tim. Whats with all the fake names? We could alteast use our real first names.

i hate witty sigs / if anything i say has something in common with reality, this is a merely a coincidence.

Quit pot for a while--it's fun, but sometimes it really fucks with your memory. Sometimes I will think of something to do, get distracted, then totally forget what I was going to do, only to have it suddenly come back to me a few minutes later (this may not be due to pot, it used to happen to me before I started smoking). Fuck all those yuppies--find a few close friends, chill with them. In college, i absolutely hate frat parties and shit, but luckily for me I found some really cool kids to hang with (they throw *real* parties)... you'll know who your real friends are. As for television, I stick with TLC, History Channel, CNN, Discovery, PBS, Bravo, comedy central, sometimes i like to watch Real World, and Star Trek: The Next Generation... oh yea, can't forget Simpsons. :)

The purpose of this post is that when i was trippin on shrooms yesterday i kept getting this FEELING that i needed someone to come to me and tell me what i should do, and guide me.

I can relate to that, a few months back I was in a deep dark funk. I spent a few hours tripping sitting by the phone because I was convinced that I had to wait for a phone call; I was waiting for someone to tell me what to do with my life. The phone call, of course, never came and I was left feeling lost and alone.

You're right, the world is full of phony people and phony institutions. You can live in this world, but not be of it. You can work within the system, but don't work towards the goals of the system (whatever this "system" thing was set up for). Don't take part, learn to do your own thing. Take pride in what you do, not what you 'have'.

Good luck on putting down the herb, that's a good first step. If you want to meet new people, go to parties and stay sober. Once you've done a few drugs it's easy to relate to others when they are high/tripping/whatever. Get inside their heads to make friends. Wait until people are so stoned they are drooling and tell a few jokes. And then give them food, I promise you'll have made friends for life.

Clean your room. You won't belive how much a clean living space will change your outlook. Utilize good lighting. Avoid the dark, being in brightly lit spaces and sunlight will improve your mood and make it easier to concentrate and accomplish your tasks. Learn to listen to the little voices in your head, they usually tell you the right thing. And pick up a copy of the Tao Te Ching; your questions are centuries old, people wiser than me have attempted to answer them already.

Think about picking up a hobby. Learn the guitar, take dance lessons, go jogging, do yoga. Find something you enjoy that gets you actice and gives you a chance to meet people that you have something in common with other than pot. I started hiking and I am so much better off for it. I realized how much I hate working behind a desk and computer and how much I love being ouside under the trees. My hiking trips have inspired me to go back to college to major in forestry. Given the chance, I feel like I was able to see through the bullshit of our consumer culture to find the path that means something to me and enables me to be of greater use to the world.

And please send in a follup post, let us know what works and what doesn't. Once you get onto level ground, the needle on your compass will stop spinning, let us know what diection it points. Good luck.

Inspiring, to say the least. I must endorse two of those notes from personal experience:

1) EXERCISE ROCKS! For someone who's finally working on getting into shape, it's the difference between night and day, this wonderful energy and feeling of well being keep me going. If you smoked hardcore, this exercise helps keep your lungs open and strong, not to mention lower your blood pressure and resting pulse rate.

2) Only smoke the herb after you get the day's work done. Too many times I've woken up with loads to get done, and think a quick toke will ease me on my way. That never works, you get playing Nintendo or dreaming of your colonizing jars...basically feeling like shit becuase you wasted a day. Get the work done, and that toke is a congradulatory pat on the back instead of a weight to draw you down. This way you'll be sharp when you need to and can relax in your spare time

Good luck
Grover

-Cannabis doesn't make me lazy... Sure, it's much more fun to smoke and then relax, but I can smoke and work or do things I have to do with no problem. You just have to think to yourself "Ok, I have to get this done, so now I'm going to get up and do it."

Actually, I prefer to work while stoned, it's so much more fun. I'm not talking stoned out of my mind, but just slightly glazed.

Anyone else who thinks that weed is NOT a de-motivator>?
