Does all contamination smell?
    #3681319 - 01/26/05 02:43 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

hey guys this is my first grow and its safe to say i live in perpetual fear of contamination. Does all contamination smell like ass? in the event my jars get hit by some kind of cobweb mold or other such white contamination would the smell eventually give it away?

Many Thanks, i hope this goes well, i have 12 jars innoc'd last night with equador and i'm in the midst of building a terrarium using the ultrasonic humidifier tek in the cultivation guides. i'll keep you all posted if that's cool!

i believe most bacterial contams smell, and others have funky colors, i'm not sure if GREEN smells tho, i wouldn't advise smelling it

yeah with the funky colors i'm not too worried cos i can spot those. i was looking up contam pics here and the one that i was worried about was cobweb mold, since it's white and fluffy too.

does where you live make a difference? i'm in the frigid midwest in the middle of winter, you'd think that would reduce the number of contam spores floating around...

No, the spores would just be dormant. BTW, cobweb will shrink/disappear temporarily if you spray it down, but that's only when its out of the jar.

wouldn't necessarily, if your region is heavy with bad spores in general, in winter they will lie dormant until introduced into an optimal environment, like your jars or fruiting chamber, the key thing is STERILIZE EVERYTHING. If everything in the vicinity of the operation is properly cleaned and sterilized, you shouldn't have a prob.
