Forget it, nothing interesting grows there in april. Perhaps some muscaria, but I doubt if they'll provide a rewarding experience.

I wouldn't recommend fly agaric mushrooms. look for psilocybin ones.

Right now until the early fall only Conocybe species and/or Panaeolus subbalteatus w can be harvested int he spring.

In the fall there are both liberty caps and p. fimetaria and p. cyanescens, and of course the lovely Amanita muscaria.

There is a Russinan mushroom site posted opn my site links page.

good luck, and yeah, it would figure that the russan steppes might support P. semilanceata.

Actually, the good ol' USA, land of the free, is much more harsh about drug laws. For the most part, drugs are decriminalized in Russia.

true, but awareness of psilocybe mushroom culture and the hunting of mushrooms is relatively uncommon in most areas i've lived.

the local fuzz are aware of the mushrooms, but don't know dick about people picking them. this is different in areas where P. cyanescens, P. cubensis and some other more commonly hunted species are extremely common.

Most likely, if a police officer (or some other person of authority) gets hold of you, he'll give you one hell of a fine (say, $300  ). You'll then argue that you've done nothing wrong and that you're prepared to pay $30. This offer is most likely accepted and is a welcome addition to the minimal wages people earn in those parts of the world.

Russia, as many may or may not already know is a country of musrhoom lo9oving peoples. They are into the edibles, yet the subculture there also grow cubes.

I have been in contact for 7 years with Russian shroomers whom I have become good friends with.

People are not really hassled there for shrooms.

There are s also severalRussian Shroom articles about shrooms in their country and a few shroom sites for Russian shroomers of psychaoctive shrooms

My granfather used to grow wild mushrooms by finding them in the wild and moving them to his yard. He was glad to see me interested, suppose its just in my blood.

I'm pretty sure You will not find any actives in Kaliningrad region, Moldova or Moscow in April.

Other than that, I've never been in Russia myself, and I would love to hear and see Your trip report  Be sure to visit Immanuel Kant's grave in Kaliningrad (once K?nigsberg). I know I would. And prepare to see a shitload of commieblocks (ugly apartment buildings)
