"Could of" = Could have
    #3677172 - 01/25/05 10:10 AM (19 years, 2 months ago)

What the fuck is with people? I don't usually get all uptight about spelling or grammar, but this shit bugs me every time I see it. And it's not like I only see it in posts on forums, I've seen it on professional websites, or news sites, or whatever. When people try to say "I could have" they say "I could of". Please, morons, for the sake of me not having to rip my eyeballs out, please use the correct word.
I'm off to smoke a bowl and get some errands done. That is all.....

You can write 'could've' though, which wouldn't necessarily be grammatically correct, but it would be a proper phonetic representation of the pronounciation.

No, it is correct. Could've is just a shortened could have.

I mostly use could've. I don't think I've ever used "could of".

I rarely if ever mention this, but the common confusion between "your" and "you're" rather irks me sometimes....

I tried all the possible ways I could of those presented to me to find a way to use the phrase correctly, and came up with this.
