if the prints look black to you, and nothing like the brown spores in gumby's chart, then they are panaeolus subbalteatus which is active. i personaly think they are.

A black spore print means that they are in fact Panaeolus, but I'm not sure about subbalteatus. I've never found pan subbs, so I'm just judging from pictures I have seen. Other species of Panaeolus have been mentioned in this thread; I would check those out if I were you.

They were in fact, active. I said that in past tense because i collected all there were, ate them, and experienced a level one trip. I had very mild visuals : Color Whips (as i called them) in the corner of my eye, and my cat's eyes burst into flame  . The latter was a little freaky, btw. Anyways thanks for all your help everyone ! I'm gonna hit the sack. Later.

glad to see a post like this turn positive... i pick alot of subbs and they definately looked like subbs... glad to see you have them growing in your front yard... they grow about year round in santa cruz, its cool you got your own patch... a really level 5 trip on these is way more intense than a cyan trip in my personal experience, cyans are most visual and insane but the level 5 subb trip is alot better in my opinion. everything has a blueish hue and the visuals are much more mild and everythings chill, but the body high is alot more intense with subbs, and overall alot better. alot are needed though, but at least they dont taste like moldy ass, they kinda taste like butter. enjoy and have a shroomy day.

Thats false information, its been proven than they aren't active. the cases that were reported were people who probably ate some pan subbs and thought they were pan fo's. this thread shows exactly how alike they can look.

Those are without a DOUBT Panaeolus FOENISECII.
He even said they were found in the lawn. They are too small to be Subbalteatus. I've found plenty of subbalteatus over the years, and I have found plenty of foenisecii, and I know for a fact that those pictured are NOT subbalteatus.
Do not eat. They wont do anything to you. Nice pictures though.
Here is a picture of some foenisecii that look like yours above.

I did.
There are a few posts that are referring to what you found as being Pan. subbalteatus. When, in fact they are NOT.
Those aren't active. Those are NOT subbalteatus!

Those are Panaeolus subbalteatus. Take another look below at Tyler's second picture from page five of this thread. I can tell by the unusal shape of the cap when turned upside down and the uneven circle the cap makes, something not notiicible in Panaeolina foenisecii.

And yes, sometimes they appear in a lawn. I only found one in my entire life in a lawn and that was near Scio, Oregon.
Remember, Joshua found a whole lawn a few years ago in Oregon. He posted many images here.

John, Im aware of them being found in lawns.... But, like you said you've found them only once in your life.
I agree that they have the physical characteristics of subbalteatus...even the white fibrillose hairs which run up the stem.
I mean, yes, they could definetly be them, but, they just dont seem likely.
Tyler, the fact that you had a hallucinogenic experience leads me to think that it was placebo. Even if they were subbalteatus, especially those found in a lawn, you would not be able to feel any sort of effect from that amount.
Whatever though. I cant prove you "wrong", Im just inserting my 2 cents. Its not like its life threatening to eat them or anything, so do whatever you want.
Try getting some older specimens. The caps which were matured in your photos have a different shape from the subbs that I find. I dont remember finding maky cracked caps, like the ones in your photo.
Try to find some more and post them.
