"Parents...the anti-drug"
    #3667100 - 01/23/05 11:14 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Thought you all might want to educate yourself on the HORRIBLE....HORRIBLE actions you condone! Didn't you know that "Longitudinal research on marijuana use among young people below college age indicates those who used have lower achievement than the non-users, more acceptance of deviant behavior, more delinquent behavior and aggression, greater rebelliousness, poorer relationships with parents, and more associations with delinquent and drug-using friends."

http://www.theantidrug.com/drug_info/drug-info-marijuana.asp

You should be ASHAMED! how will you live with a "poorer relationship with your patents..." Tisk tisk.

Ohhhh the damn propaganda

This link was gotten when I was reading a New York Times Article online. Such damn propaganda! All the teetering liberals that read the New York Times will now see this link and fear for their children. Crack down on their freedoms more...thinking they, the parents, are educated.

Thing is, probably about 80% of those parents used to smoke pot when they were younger. But somehow it is not an evil drug...I wonder at what age does pot, your fun-loving explorations, excitement, and freedom become evil?

Perhaps she is longing for a "damaged" longitudinal relationship. Those tricky moms...their so smart. She probably was hitting oregano while you hit the pot.

I enjoy the LSD info page. So interesting how the symptoms that I LOVE ("delusions and visual hallucinations. The user's sense of time and self changes. Sensations may seem to "cross over," giving the user the feeling of hearing colors and seeing sounds.") are portrayed as bad symptoms that the user "panics" about...so silly.

My parents know I use drugs, and I spend a lot of my time stoned while around my mom. She doesn't really care, though she doesn't exactly approve either. So no, my parents aren't my anti-drug.

My anti-drug is alcohol

What's interesting about having a campaign called "Parents: The Anti-Drug" is that it's practically an admission by the anti-drug crowd that the Drug War is a waste of tax dollars. Since parents are the best way of keeping kids off of drugs, why should the government waste all this money on anti-drug advertizing and spraying poison on crops in South America?

What I like is how they treat the symptom as if it were the cause. They list things like:

"those who used have lower achievement than the non-users, more acceptance of deviant behavior, more delinquent behavior and aggression, greater rebelliousness, poorer relationships with parents, and more associations with delinquent and drug-using friends"

and say these are all caused BY the drug use. What they fail to take into account is that the drug use is a result of these types of situations. People who are bored with life and society, who do not get along well with "the crowd", and who tend towards rebelliousness are MUCH more likely to get into the drug scene.

The drug war is just another vain attempt to cover up the truth about our society: that many of us are sick of this shit and will refuse to fall into line on principle alone. The drug war is an attempt to cover the truth about the world in which we live...and it gives them the chance to call the causes of drug abuse (ie: the failings of society) the symptoms...and thus completely overlook society's influence in this matter.

It's like they took every word they ever heard anyone use to refer to drugs, and put it in a dictionary. This stuff is probably mostly context dependent - If I ask my weed dealer for "fine stuff", I'm probably not asking for a nice cheese.

It's all thanks to Reagan's stupid ass that this thing actually started. Drugs were tolerated till he went on a fit about them.

thanks god i don't have to see all this propaganda shit on tv and in newspapers anymore...I was so sick of hearing such shit back when i lived in the US.

People in france are so much more tolerant and open minded, even though marijuana is stil lillegal. LAst night i was watching a famous late night talk show where the host and the presentator wre actually arguing in favor of legalization.. That's something you rarely see on american tv huh?
