I was just wondering if anyone would be kind anoth to give some feedback on some home recorded music I made with a friend. We play live and everything but people tend to not offer harsh criticism when face to face. We only have two songs on the web(we're paranoid) first ones just instrumentals and the second is me piss me drunk flaming cops...Give us a listen at http://www.purevolume.com/g9 Don't hold punches...all criticism is welcome.

The music isn't bad, but the guitar tones are really lacking.

the highs are cluttered. The first song has way too much effect and gets redundant. The second song has potential though, especially the beat. Try to get real drums though.

Thanx for the feedback...we're still kind of in transition with our new drummer. We did'nt start recording till our old one moved to Alabama(?)It's good you commented about the guitar...our lead looks alittle hardcore which i guess intimidates people. What genre do you think we are?...I can't really tell.

First song "Washed away": The guitar sounds (a very subjective topic person to person) are a little too treble-ee for me.... In my learning and experiences with recording, I have found that when you record 2 guitars, you need to make the sounds pretty much completely different in tone to be able to hear them clearly.... A contrast of sounds so to speak.... ALSO, it sounds like you are recording "line-in" style.... Hopefully, I will save you a lot of time and trouble in the future with my tip for this in getting a "good sound" with a guitar....
Tip: Get two half way decent mics, point one at the middle edge of the inside "cone" close to the amp, and point another towards the outside of the "outer cone" from about 1-2 feet away.... Experiment with the level mix and the mic placement till you hear what you like.... And WaLLa~.... This is what I have found to be the best way to capture the sound the way you want to hear it.... It took me a long time of experimenting to find this resolve to my critical ear....
All in all, the content was alright - considering there are no drums or a melodic bass line to fill in the picture with more color....
Second song "Revolution": The "singing" eeehhh.... Sounds like my crappy attempts at trying to sing.... No offense....! BUT, the drum machine, and the underlying bass sounds REALLY add to the whole thing.... Something soothing about the 2nd LOW END chord resolve in the measure.... Definately needs a change or two - IMO, but I like songs with lots of parts, so take that with a grain of salt....
Good luck, and keep jammin....! >^;;^<
