Outdoor Cultivation of Cubensis Straight From Spores.
    #3662288 - 01/22/05 12:16 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

If I wanted to make a cubensis patch, outside in the summer. Could I do it without producing mycelium/substrate? Could I Dilute sporewater in a larger volume of water and saturate a large mound of a nutritive substance(shit, compost, etc) with it? How would it compare to burying colonized substrate?

im not 100% sure on this cause ive never done it or read/heard anybody doing it but i would imagine your success rate to be alot better if you throw a colonized substrate out there. my thinking is that it would be alot easier for the mycelium to grow than for the spores and then the mycelium.

If you try to make an outdoor patch on spore water alone, you'll fail. Mushroom spores have to compete with some 17 billion other spores, contams and conditions that are way out of our control. That's why we try to give the mushroom the best chances of success possible by controlling the spore to germination to substrate stages of the life life cycle. If you have colonized substrate and use that to start an outdoor patch, your chances of success will go up exponentially. But spores on their own literally don't stand a chance.

No..you would have to produce mycelium/substrate.

No..you don't want to dilute spore water into a larger volume of water.

You would spawn(mix) already colonized substrate into the poo, shit, compost, etc.

Good luck!~
