they just don't rock as hard anymore.... it's sad because I love them all, but.... the original Cream is going to tour this summer, and you know they wont rock nearly as hard as they used too. Not worth paying $65+ to see.
when my time machine is done I will see them all.....

they are in their 60's. I am skeptical. Look at Yes... if Wakeman didn't return they wouldn't rock at all. Hmm... then there is Kiss... They play all their songs down a forth now cause they are too old to sing their par ts. The Stones kind of still rock....

I first saw Jethro Tull live during their "Thick as a Brick" tour. 1972 or 1973 that was... can't remember which and too lazy to look it up now. At any rate, I went with two friends. We were all higher than loons on some extremely righteous Orange Double Barrel LSD. Just as the lights went down one of my friends turned to me with that huge-pupilled, maniacally-grinning typicl acid-peaking look and said, "I hope they aren't too good!" It was an amazing concert. They first played an extended version -- nonstop -- of "Thick as a Brick". At that time none of us had ever heard the album. We had thought "Aqualung" was their latest. It ran just under an hour and a half. That's twice as long as the album! When the lights came up, my friend turned to me with a hopelessly wrecked expression on his face and said, "They were too good!" We figured the show was over but we sat there for a while with everyone else, cheering our lungs out. The band was still on stage. Then the lights dimmed again, Anderson stepped up to the mike and said, "And now.... for our next album..." and they then played the entire Aqualung album. All of it! Flawlessly. Ah, my children.... 'twas bliss. The lights came up again and we figured that had to be the end. We were trying to extricate outselves from our chairs with the usual acid-head lack of physical co-ordination when the lights dimmed yet again! And they played just under another hour of selected cuts from "Benefit", "This Was", and "Stand Up". Completely outrageous. The sound was crystal clear, the playing was without error, the lights eerily beautiful (of course, under the influence of Orange Double Barrel even a string of Christmas tree lights is eerily beautiful) -- it was the most perfect concert experience imaginable. When they ended the final song, the roar of applause was insane. And we all knew there would be no more encores. From the time they played the first note till the last was almost three and a half hours. People filed out in an orderly fashion, babbling excitedly about what we had all just been privileged to witness. I've seen almost every major band from the late Sixties to early Eighties worth seeing (including Tull several more times) and I'd be hard-pressed to name a concert more perfect than that one. Even seeing Pink Floyd on their "Dark Side of the Moon" tour play outdoors in Montreal wasn't better than that first Tull concert. Sometimes getting old sucks (I'm into my second half century on this planet -- just how far into it I won't say) but I'm glad I was born into the Woodstock Generation if only for the opportunities it presented to see some of the finest bands in history perform live. Jethro Tull is right up there with the best of them. pinky ***ps*** The ticket was $4.50 Canadian, by the way.
