Hey you gotta work with what you got,so here it is... The unsuspecting donor
 Getting there...
 and totally free

It's totally out with all the wiring including a light, switch and plug! It's as loud as a FREAKIN DEMON THOUGH!!!!! I have no idea how many CFM this thing does but I'll let everyone know how it works out. I have to build a $10 4 foot by 4 foot HEPA filter now!

$10 4'x4' HEPA filter? Hmmmmm... this should be interesting, im strapping myself in and ready for takeoff... :P but no seriously i am interested. btw you can buy cheepo exaust fans at homedepo, but then again the cheep ones only seem to do around 80 cfm. I wouldnt think destroying a vacume cleaner for the purposes of a fan would be a good aternative for most though

Free is good. For a 4x4 flow hood you pry want a blower in the 1200 cfm range. That's a pretty big filter. Let us know how that works out.

well I need a good pressure difference for my filter to work an exhaust fan would just bog down.I got the vacuum dumpster diving so it wasn't really my main one. I just lucked out. you could get a vacuum motor for cheap if you're not picky about the make and visit a small shop.

couldn't you just use a HEPA vaccum bag? they are relatively cheap and should fit the vaccum motor...

ya know a blower motor for a car is only about $25-30 for a mid eighties domestic car, with a little plexiglass its not to hard to make a housing for it.

yeah...I could have gone to the car wrecker, you're right there. and it is a squirril cage that is pretty quiet. I may change it out if I can't stand the vacuum motor but working with 12 volts will suck...transformers and all that crap. I may hook the cage to a 120 volt motor and trash the 12 volt if I end up swapping it.

Good idea...I'll use a vac bag as a pre filter before the home built hepa filter!
