9-11 stories
    #3653678 - 01/20/05 03:36 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I'm kinda curious about where everyone was when 9-11 happened and how you guys found out the morning of...

Here's my story:

That morning I had a 9am class (east coast time). I was between apts so I was crashed out on my buddy's couch that week with my g/f. I decided to skip class that morning and sleep in. I just had my 22nd birthday "party" at the Olive garden the night before so I was a little hungover.

I woke up to my buddy's kicking me and yelling "Dude! America's under attack". The first thing I thought was "Shit! The Chinese are invading!". I had a paranoid buddy who was ranting on about the chinese invading a few days before... he had a dad that worked for the gov't and was talking about how he was afriad that china would try something relatively soon".

So we plop on the tv just before the second tower fell. I have to admit... it may sound racist.. but when I saw the WTC on the tv... the first thing I thought then was that there had to be a muslim extremist behind it. It was definately their style... They were really the only guerilla group that was pissed at us that had the power/motivation to do something like that.

While watching the second tower fall.. then hearing about PA and the pentagon.... there was a good 30 minutes when I woke up, that I took inventory in my head of everything that I would need to bring with me if for some reason we had to evacuate... being close to DC and all.

It's so strange when something to intense happens out of no where like that.

I was in class whenc somebody rushed in and told our teacher a plane flew into the WTC. I thought it was just an accident or something. We went to another room to watch the news and watched as the second plane flew into the other tower. Then we watched them collapse. It was scary.

I was in highschool, and a teacher came in and told my teacher that they just "blew up" the twin towers. She put on the tv and it took a few minutes for the reality of the situation to settle in.

Then the principle comes on the intercom telling all the teachers not to put the tv on, that everything is fine. Of course my teacher was like, fuck that

I was in a prison work release camp, still asleep. When I woke up to the news, I too immediately thought of Bin Laden. No shit. I think that I have been subliminally programmed by Fox news and CNN.

I was at work. One of my co-workers said, "Some people have flown planes into buildings". He said it in a very subdued way. I thought a couple of Cessna's had crashed or accidentally hit buildings. Then I went to talk to my boss. He told me what had happened. I remember asking, "These were large passenger planes?" and "The World Trade Center....as in 100 stories high World Trade Center in New York?". He said,"yes" and the gravity of the situation sunk in. I was immediately thinking, "Holy Shit!". It was pretty unbelievable. I of course knew immediately that only Islamic extremists would do something like that.

I woke up and got dressed and was going to school, I was in 10th grade at the time. I went upstairs and my stepmom said America's Under Attack!!!. I ran downstairs and turned on the TV and Just sat in a disgusted awe at what was happening, i barely left the TV for 3 days.

Well it's not exactly a "few" blocks. You're probably thinking 4 or 5 blocks by a "few." In Manhattan, twenty or so blocks to me is a few. But, to answer your question, yes.

People everywhere were just in a stupor and a panic at the same time, their faces just blank yet shocked at the same time. I was pretty anxious and confused myself, so I just left to stay at a friend's place for a couple days. It was so surreal though, I thought I was still dreaming when I woke up that morning.

EDIT: Another thing... My first impression of the event was that even though it was a "terrorist" attack, there was something very strange and fishy about it. I thought it was very suspicious that government officials named Bin Laden/Al Qaeda as the perpetrators so soon, before any evidence was even collected. I didn't believe it that day and I still don't today.

I awoke to the phone ringing way too early in the morning! Since it was still several hours before my time to rise I wasn't happy that this had happened. Of course my aging parents didn't hear the phone rining so I was pissed that I had to answer it. My aunt was on the other side saying that terrorist had barrel rolled two 747s into the Twin Towers. If it weren't for my uncle not having an Early-Bird type of a job, my aunt would never have been awake to see what was going on.

Of course by the time I hung up the phone my parents some how had awaken, they did hear the phone - didn't want to answer it, and told them what was up and how unpleased I was at my aunt for waking me up at such an hour. So I smoked a bowl and went right back to sleep.

Fuck the Terrorist and Fuck the US government and THEIR polices for making the attacks a possibility.

Forward to 2005:
We really need to pull our Troops out of Saudi Arabia because ultimatily that is what all this Terrorist bullshit is about. The Americans being Infidels being in the land of Mecca or Saudi Arabia to you and me.

Funny thing is if the U.S. didn't go into Saudi Arabia, Sadam would have most likely targeted them next. The Terrorist attacks is the Thanks the us gets for helping an Islamic country regain their Freedom. But hey man, the us has to protect their interest in Foreign Oil so Soccer Moms can get 10mpgs for driving their children to practice.

SOrry, I can keep on going for days and the whole situation is just slightly more complex than I have made it out to be, YEAH RIGHT!

I had just woken up and had the TV on. The one plane had already hit the WTC, and I was thinking it was just a horrible pilot error. Then, live on TV I watched the second plane hit the tower. I was bit freaked out, to say the least...

I think I was in school, I forget which class, and then the teachers were all like, Oh no, the Towers have been attacked! At first I thought that a plane had just accidentally crashed into a tower in New York and wondered why everyone was making such a big deal of it, then the other one hit and I realized that it was probably more than an accident.

Eh, I really didn't care then, and I still don't care very much, so it's not like I marked all the details of the day in my mind. These things happen, and they've happened much worse in other countries. The only reason people made such a big deal about it was because it finally happened to America, and everyone knows Americans can't stand getting done to them what their army has done to so many other people.
