pro-growth economics...
    #3653467 - 01/20/05 02:29 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

the nation...

Quote:

Al Zack, who until his retirement in 2004 was the United Food and Commercial Workers' vice president for strategic programs, observes that appealing to the poor was "Sam Walton's real genius. He figured out how to make money off of poverty. He located his first stores in poor rural areas and discovered a real market. The only problem with the business model is that it really needs to create more poverty to grow." That problem is cleverly solved by creating more bad jobs worldwide. In a chilling reversal of Henry Ford's strategy, which was to pay his workers amply so they could buy Ford cars, Wal-Mart's stingy compensation policies--workers make, on average, just over $8 an hour, and if they want health insurance, they must pay more than a third of the premium--contribute to an economy in which, increasingly, workers can only afford to shop at Wal-Mart.

(ironically enough..the last sentance was a favourite of the soviet union...)

of course it doesnt stop at wal-mart...there is every indication that this is the strategy for the entire 21st century economy...

a prime example is hasterts' proposal to eliminate the IRS and replace it with a regressive value-added tax which may be as high as 23% CNN (the link says it wont happen..but that was before the elction)... the VAT is not only regressive..but ppl who are now taxed at 10% would effectively be taxed at 23%..since they have very little available for savings...so here we have a conscious effort to create more poverty according to the strategy above...

and..as in the case of wal-mart..armed thugs will be loosed on anyone that dares to organize against the policy...this i believe to be the real purpose behind bushs' domestic security policy and not terrorism...

the majority seems to view the policy as at least a lesser evil to inflation..but OTOH maybe its just inflation in disguise... in either case..there is no point in questioning the will of the voters...pro-growth economics works by producing poverty instead of wealth...

Class war. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Eliminating the IRS is a very good idea. Take away the Federal income tax system. Here in my city we pay property tax for basic city services. Each state or city can then up their own tax according to their own needs. The only money the federal government needs is to maintain a military, run the postal service, maintain federal highways, for Congress to coin money, maintain the court system, and to pay federal employees. Cut out all the excess bullshit that is a waste of money and put those powers and money in the hands of the states.

Stop what?...making posts that you disagree with? How about some intelligent posts of your own, instead of casting stones?
