question that needs immediate attention
    #3652907 - 01/20/05 11:11 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I've had them incubating for 21 days now and I really have no way of telling if they are complete since they were pretty much white since the day I took them out of the boiler. So is 21 days a sufficient amount of time to go ahead and guess they are done and ready for flowering? Note: I've tried cleaning the outsides of the jars with vinegar and it still it is white. SO it must be coming from the inside. What do you all think?

What do you mean it's "white"? Is the substrate you're using white? More info please.

substrate = vermiculite, brown rice flour, water (I think there was an excess of water due to boiling over during sterilization).

method of innoc = spore syringe? (I had to punch larger holes after sterilization due to the needle not being able to fit in through the lid).

sterile technique = lysol prepared surface, latex gloves, purified water

innoc temp = 90 degrees

Any other information I will be glad to supply if it helps.

What kind of jars are you using? Are they clear or white? If clear, then why would the substrate be white right after boiling? I really don't think I'm understanding what's going on here.

You really need to be alittle more specific with your details.
Pucturing a hole through the lids after Pcooking, or what ever method you used is a BIG no-no!
Can't even begin to think why your jars would be white?
Somethings not right here... I'm with woodzman on this...did you use perlite?
Vermiculite is brownish in color and perlite resembles small white balls. Something the size of BB's you would use for a BB gun (airgun).

Here is a picture I was able to snap.

question: is myc supposed to be a pure white color? As can be noticed there is a tiny stripe of white at the top of the jar. Is this myc just now starting to form after 21 days? I did use verm. And did boiled them. not pressure cooked

Can anyone at least give me some information from the picture I posted of one of the culture jars? What are the consequences of leaving them to incubate for too long?

Incubate to long can dry them out, turn them yellow, make them shrink, cause weird growths to form, cause early pins ect. None of which are really fatal. Just dunk and roll and birth ASAP (after 100% colonization of course).

The jar you posted looks fine.

And your flowering your mushrooms? Haha...you been growing some plants havnt you?
