Having perfect growing conditions is the best way for speedy collonization, altho I have found EQ's to be rather quick to collonize.

cambo's have been the fastest out of the few that I've seen in person, at least if you can keep it about 85 deg

Creeper is a lot faster then B+ in my experience... 12 jars creeper, 12 b+... 100% colonization in the creeper before even half the b+ were done

I won't say which is faster...to me...that's not what really matters...What matters is how many rhizomorphs you've got, and my Creeps were def. just one big rhizomorph....just waiting to colonize some spawn...Well i lied...so far...Creeps are pretty hardcore at colonization speeds, my optimal temps. help tho

THE sent me some PC huatutla de hemenez (or something very close to that, just a mexican strain really) and they colonized my BRF cakes in 2 weeks flat. temps were prob. only high 70's but i did mix a bit more BRF than normal in the half pinters

I have 4 strains and my hawiian's went the fastest for me and the b+ the slowest. However, the b+ were worth the weight. I think they produce nice fruits.

I agree a cube is a cube is a cube, but personal preference wise Iv had fastest colonization with B+, GT, and K. Samoi in that order.
they do each have their own certain appeal however

Those of you who say a cube is a cube is a cube havent grown enough different strains side by side. I've grown out 12 cubie strains now and they do all have different charecteristics. Given same conditions, yeild, speed, ease of pinning, size, shape, color and potency will all vary between strains and each strain will maintain certain charecteristics USUALLY. Every casing does vary of course but, especially when working with an isolate, strains will definatly have their SLIGHT variences.
All that said, Brazils are the fastest and most prolific pinners I've grown yet but I've felt there potency was somewhat lacking compared to other strains and had A TON of aborts since it pinned so much it just couldnt support all of the pins. My favorite strain so far has been Z's due to the potency and ease of pinning. Its not very far behind colonization speed of brazils either. Plus they get pretty damn big in the flushes after the first. I have yet to try creeper or EQ which have held my interest for a while.
And all THAT said, you will get much faster colonization if you conentrate first on getting your temperatures right and MOST importantly, water content (with PF Tek the fluffiness plays a big part I believe too) correct.

i hate when people say cubes are cubes...they all grow differently, like recently i asked a question about growing in the cold. got a few answeres about their all the same. ive grown only 5 different strains but it was all at the same time and they ALL grew different shapes, sizes, times....so dont listen...but either go with EQ or cambodian...Z strain is REALLY REALLY fast but its not that potent in my opinion...maybe i grew wrong...but they are fast as shit.

Potency has alot to do with substrate they are grown on...perhaps if grown on cakes that could be the problem, especially if you switched to whole grains when switching strains. Or maybe it was just random or your substrain...potency can just vary from mushroom to mushroom.
Thats why everyone says cubies are cubies though...the problem is EVERYONE gets different results...notice some say B+ is the slowest theyve ever done, some the fastest...and both people saying oppisite things could have grown the same strains and still say it. Same with potency, ease of pinning ect. You kinda have to try a few out and see what works for you. And even then you'll get variences within the strain. Over time of growing certain strains though, one will become your favorite, for whatever reason. I just get annoyed when EVERYONE just says "a cube is a cube" like the first dozen people that said it wasnt enough and they just want to hear themselves talk. Why post if you have the exact same thing to post as a dozen other people in the thread and no new info/ Plus its better, instead of saying "a cubes a cube" to elaborate a bit and say that strains will vary from substrain to substrain and then generlize your opinion on the question... More informative then telling someone what they just read over and over again one more time like they'll believe you and not the other dozen people and like your actually posting something worth saying.

Agree with ya scatman, but sometimes when I drop a question here I appreciate even if people answer the same. So it makes me more sure then when only one is answering. I see it like an extra confirmation.
its like a poll...
Bout potency me too has impression potency has to do with substrate as well. But ofcourse why wouldnt the potency of an indian mushroom differ from an african cube? Ahh, it all may, and does, vary but I say cubes are cubes anyway!!
With the most respectfull and elevated regards,
MF
