ide believe it... theres still large fruitings of cyans here in the bay area... how did you accquire this information? I probably speak for most of us when asking for some photographic proof... but ide still believe it... I'll definately have to go looking in some good habitats ive noticed. i've heard of some findings in santa cruz county where they have been found by david arora. I would be interested in studying this species, seriously studying

Psilocybe azurescens are not in New Mexico. Paul Stamets listed several friends of his who grew some outdoors in their gardens. That usually does not lead to the spreading of the species into other regions. Especially int hye desert lands of the Souothwest. After a few years, the Ohio, New York, Michigan and a few other locations which Stamets listed, including those of New Mexico, are no longer there.

The person in New Mexico whome I know, lived in Moriarty, near Albuquerque. He moved to San Diego a few years ago. He only had them in his garden for one season. They did not come back the following year.

Others have also transplanted them into several European countries. after a year or two they do not come back and so that is the azure pathway. Gartz has a small patch int he woods that he feeds every year. IT has never spread into other regions in Leipzig.

As for San Francisco, A few people found a few in northwestern Califonia near the Eureka/Arcada area.

It is highly unlikely now for them to be fruiting. Their season in Oregon is defnitely over along the coastline.

As the Shroomer of Doomie said, photos help ones reliability on this site.

have a shroomy day,

mj

They were probably transplanted to the bay area.
Azures are native to the PNW, pretty much Oregon.

It's possible to grow them many places in the U.S
including the SF bay area. Perhaps you found someones patch?

thats kinda what i was thinking. In my experience in hunting them, azures have a very specific environment...

info comes from a reliable source (a mycologist) in the MSSF. there are no pictures just a report. found in the east bay near the water in an area where other actives have been found. This was a wild one not someones patch and only one mushroom

hmm well not to discredit anyone, but just being the natural skeptic I am, is there a chance they were confused with cyanofibrillosa?

assuming your reliable source is truely a reliable source, that makes it a reliable report, not a fact.

/me puts on his grammar nazi hat.

Something that's been bothering me, just because...

The proper uses of "their, there, and they're":

Their- is used to show possesion of something (ex: He wanted to pick mushrooms out of their yard).

There- is used to describe a location (ex: He found the mushrooms over there.)

They're- is a contraction for "they are." (ex: They're here.)

Hope you enjoyed the short grammar lesson, use it wisely.
