Questions For Cmputer Peoples
    #3649356 - 01/19/05 06:36 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I was looking around and decided to build myself a computer, I was wondering it this seemed worth it:

Price:

(opt=Optional)

Case: $67.99
CD: (opt) $60.99
Floppy Drive: (opt) $26.99
Hard Drive: $132.99
Ram: $161.99
Video Card: $192.99
Motherboard: $162.99
Sound Card: $20.99
Fan(s): (opt) $10.99
Hard Drive Cooling: (opt) $8.99
Video Card Fan: (opt) $21.99
Internet card: (opt) $13.99

Total + Tax (With opt): $947.46
Total + Tax (No opt): $826.80

Above Computer Specs:

Intel Celeron 2.8GHZ

2x256MB Over-clocked High Performance Ram

160GB ATA-100 EIDE Hard Drive

XFX GeForce FX 5700 LE 256 MB Video Card

Live Channel PCI Pro Sound Card

10/100 MBPS PCI Fast Ethernet Card

52x32x52x CD-RW

case
hard drive
video card
Motherboard+cpu
ram
all the other stuff (sound card, ethernet card) is standard 20-30 buck stuff,

If this is a bad price, could somebody find it in there hearts to build me a computer? preferably from these stores:

Tiger Direct
Canada Systens
Factory direct

Thanks.

Everything should be (prfereably) under 900 dollars.

Thanks

Aight well, I'll toss my opinion in.

1.) I'd go AMD. Celerons are really bad in comparison for the same or more money. Get a 3200+ or a cheap Athlon 64 like a 3000+ or higher.
2.) Get a nForce3 motherboard so you can get built-in sound and networking. And depending on if you are a gamer or not, you can get built in video. I noticed the 5700, but, that's merely a good card. No great shakes by any means.
3.) Get a nice case. Like..Antec. They make fantastic cases.
4.) Get more RAM. 2x512 MB PC2700 or higher.

Dont spend all that money and settle for a celeron, second rate processor. Remember, your computer will only be as good as the limiting factor.
