they look like they are struggleing with the cold weather
my first guess would be Ganoderma lucidum
or "ling chih" which is Chinese for Mushroom of Immortality
believed to have anti-cancer/medicinal properties
other possible identities are Ganoderma curtisii and Ganoderma tsugae
which are similar and possibly both grow in florida as well

Is it like a hot orange color on the top?
Found a specimen this year that must have weighed atleast 15 pounds.

I think it is Chicken of the Woods. It's found in California too. Is it bright pink/orange when you break it open? I remember it showing up every year in the late fall on a tree stump near my old school. It always got kicked to pieces and then turned gray...I felt sorry for it...

Hold on, didn't read it well enough. The one in California is called L. gilbertsonii. I guess it's good I never tried to eat it.
