Well I've been selling stuff on ebay for a while now and hope to have about $800 in my paypal account soon which I've decided to put towards a nice digi camera!

I'll be using it for close up macro shots (shrooms n stuff), action photography like fighter planes and the like and taking panoramic pictures of the peaks.

Anyone got any recommendations?

I've got a Fugifilm Finepix E500. It's only 4 megapixels but it has all the features you'd want in a camera and only costs $325 at Wal-Mart. It has the macro shot mode for taking pictures as close as 1" from an object. The aperature and shutter speeds are fully adjustable for capturing the motion of sports and other action events. You might wanna google it and check out the specs for yourself.

I use an Olympus Stylus 4 mega-pixel and it is great.
It has the macro function and it works well.
It has tons of features: 1.5" LCD Display, optical/digital zoom, night-time mode, records quicktime movies, it comes with a remote, and much more.
This camera is also extremely tough for a digital camera. I have dropped it right on to the telescopic part and it moved 4 degrees off normal, the camera then made a series of beeps to let me know that something was wrong, I cleaned off the dirt/mud and pushed it the (telescopic part)back into place and it has continued to work as well as the day I bought it. This camera combines high-quality photos and functions with durability to make it the perfect camera for me. It cost less than $400.00 American.

Thanks for the recomendations guys.

I've been searching around and this camera caught my eye.

The Fuji Finepix S7000 Zoom.

6.3 megapixels which interpolates with the super CCD HR sensor to a whopping 12 megapixels! 6x optical zoom and a further 3.2 digital zoom. You can shoot macro as close as 1cm! :drooling:

Its got some damn good reviews/awards and I could probably afford a 2.3gig microdrive and telephoto lense for it with the cash left over!

800 USD or 800 quid? ifit's 800 quid then might as well go for a nikon d70. you can get the d70 plus a 512mb flash card + lens for around 800 euros. you have to buy a macro lens seperately though..but there's nothing like collecting lenses!

to tell you the truth i only trust nikon, canon or sony cameras. don't go for any others

a good site for digital camera reviews which i highly recommend www.dpreview.com

That's a very nice camera. Macro, lets you control ISO and shutter-speed priority, RAW format support, continuous shooting. I have the Fujifilm S3100 and I am very pleased... yours is really the camera I wanted though :drooling: Amongst the best non-SLR digital cameras.

800 USD boO, wish it was 800 quid!

I checked out www.dpreview.com that you recomended and they gave the S7000 a pretty good rating.

With all the positive reviews I've read and pics I've seen I'm seriously considering this camera. It pisses on alot of similar cameras that are twice the price! :yesnod:

I don't think I could do any better for the money.

I got this camera last summer. When I showed up at the Arizona gathering Prisoner#1 had the same camera. We've both taken some nice photos with it.

It fucking rocks!!

One thing I reccomend is to actually find any camera (that you are checking out online) in a local store and try it out. There were other cameras I was contemplating (after reading lots of online reviews) but once I held them and took a few photos I wanted nothing to do with them. I was very happy with the Sony from the start (and I still am).

You may not want the camera I have, and thats OK; but you may not want the one you buy if you don't try it first, and that would be worse.
