I have a Vick's Cool Mist and it is LOUD AS HELL on it's highest setting. The low setting is sorta quiet but the air ouput sucks.

That's what I was thinking too, then it occured to me he probably wants to hide it.
-------------------- "A nation's hope of lasting peace cannot be firmly based upon any race in armaments but rather upon just relations and honest understanding with all other nations... Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..." President Dwight Eisenhower, 1953

mines been going for like a month and it just started making noise. i took it apart and oiled it and even put a second output tube to relieve some of the pressure inside and its still making noise. But, it still works so I'm just gonna say F@#$ it !! lol should be ok also its good to put humidifier water treatment in when you fill it completely so you don't have lots of buildup from hard water or anything.

if noise is a problem why not just make a stealth box for it like you see a microgrow in on overgrow? ... or just move out

my vicks cool mist is fucking loud. It wasn't so bad at first, but it's about a month or 2 old and now it's loud. I like the noise though, it helps me sleep. Last night it was so quiet I had to turn it on. I tore down martha, so I didn't have my nightly noise I was so accustomed to.

Depending on why your concealing:
My closet has fans and cool mist (cool mist sounds just like a fan) and gets a little noisey. Contained the noise is much less and since I hide from my house guests, I just put something in front of the door (works to hide the cord going under too) that makes a small noise or could be blamed. Anything like a fish tank, water fountain, fan, or what I like best and use, HEPA filter can be used to mask noises and sometimes help hide things... HEPA filter is just a "smoke eater" and air purifier...helps you not get sick and breathing better ect. Nice cover and keeps things clean for your babies.
You can box up humidifiers and fill the box with polyfil (found at walmart..bag for like a buck in the crafts section) which will not only dumb down the noise, but filter the air comming in..

By closing it in i meant making it a recirculating system, most noise is from the intake/exhaust, and the lowest setting has pretty good output since ill be transfering the air from a 6 inch fan to two 1and 1/4 inch hoses with return lines.

and its a mist, i want to get fresh air into the chamber. im thinking of two 18 gallon rubbermaids with straw they both have hoses from the coolmist into one side, and outakes on the other with a fresh air vent on the outake. a lighting system above. the straw seems to do a good job of keeping rH so i was just going to rely on the coolmist as misting as needed, hopefully never.

Return hoses? From your humidified chamber?
If you're using an evaporative type of cool mist humidifier this is not advised. The evaporative type has a hard time producing humidity in an already humidified environment. For the reason why you can read the posts in THIS THREAD paying particular attention to what Magash has to say and the link he provides in his last post.

well shit sticks, it seems that it would be able to maintain the rh once it got up there though. unless i has a polyfil filter in the hose so that fresh air can get sucked in and some water could condesate and drip out. i think this will be some trial and error.

This sounds way more complicated then need be. No outtakes and all that are needed..just pump in cool mist air...the air will find somwhere to go and humidity will have a harder time excaping then gases through small cracks instaed of output hoses and all that.
For bulk you dont even really need much of anything but manual fanning a few times a day or some poyfil holes well placed and some misting..

maybe the outake is a little much, i just heard that recirculating can be good, and i like the idea of having fresh air, but your right that so far, fannings all you need really. i just wanted to try and automate my system a little more.
