Unusual looking mycellium PICS
    #3647877 - 01/19/05 10:55 AM (19 years, 2 months ago)

I posted this in the contaim forum but nobody has even looked at it yet in a few hours. Well these are about 10 days into life. They ALL have like very thin looking mycellium growing that is white but looks kind of wispy(kinda like fuzzy little arms growing to the new areas) or is it webs? like the pattern makes it look like a snowflake or something, hard to explain. Or from what you can tell is the just a normal growth.

this pic you can see very well, the stretching blob shit.

Ive done some more research and seen that sometimes the mycillium stretches to gain nutrients, im thinking thats what going on. anybody have any GOOD pics of cobweb so i know the difference

nah cold shocking doesnt kill anything, it simply slows down things
and is required for certain species, mainly edibles, to get them to
start pinning.

it wont do anything to fight cobweb.

so, im screwed or what. Sorry I cant find much research on this stuff. Also what could cause this? I bought the jars from an online source, and the syringes from sporesource.

were these pre-sterilized jars?

if so, its very unlikely that the contam was inside the jar,
its more likely that u fucked up in the iconulation process,
like some spores dropped on the syringe u used for example.

this is JUST a possible reason, there are hundred thigns that
could have gone wrong but most unlikely they are vendor related.

it's hard to say where the problem occured, it could have been contams
through your procedures or may very well have been a fault of one of the
vendors, I suggest remaking the jars and double check your techniques
to make sure it isnt on your end... contact the vendors and usualy they are
happy to help remedy the problem

I injected 12 mycobags all the same way and had 100% success rate. Ill see what they say, just kinda bummed. Should I keep them for a few more days or throw them now?

sorry for the noob question but what is this rhyzo growth it might be? Here a bunch of pics all from different jars

This is the most covered jar, Its the whitest of them all. there is lots of normal looking white and only a small bit of the weird stuff

This is probably the best pic I have of this growth.

After looking at it, I found the perfect words to say what it looks like. If you ever looked at ICE real carefully there are like stress cracks/marks all through it, that is EXACTLY what this looks like

No shaking of BRF jars is necessary, but you may want to turn them upsidedown at some point (I do it at 50%).

First one sounds like rhizomorphs...Does it look like little strands of rope reaching outward? That's a good sign of health agressive myc. colonizing ...That 2nd one looks like cobbwebb...but if thats the same jar, then isolate that jar from any others and watch it...i've had lots of jars overtake cobbwebb, Especially when i had rhizomorphs everywhere...creeps are the shit what else can i say

O, and turing your Pf jars...or any , having water move towards your dry verm and make its way out of the holes doesn't exactly sound like my idea of trying to stay contam-free...

But gl with w/e methods you choose.

My jars look exactly like that, bunchs of strands of rope reaching outward. If your gonna flip your jars wait till the top of jar is colonized because it'll be more resistant to contamination.

All the pictures are mycelium. You have nothing to worry about Right now. Those jars are on there way to being healthy fully colonized BRF cakes.

Cobweb grows 10 times faster than mycelium. If it was the dreaded cobweb it would be almost twice the size it was in a day. Mycelium is Bright white like a piece of printer paper. What you have is clearly mycelium.

jtseaweed is right, cobweb would finish that jar off by 2morrow if that's the case, looks fine to me. looks nice and ropey. cobweb is weird fuzzy and hairy looking...usually grayish. keep it around, if it's cobweb, it might colonize the whole jar in less than 2-3days after you can first see it.
what strain u growing anyway? that's how my combos looked when they were colonizing.

just to let you know that you are okay, that is great growth with tightly packed rhizos. Its what you want. Some would say it looks like silk

--------------------
Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
