Every mushroom of this strain have came out like this. Tiny caps and long skinny stems. Is this normal and if so, whats the point?

Yeah should be I think. The other cakes in there have produced some nice shrooms.

I can't say really as I haven't grown cakes in a long time.. try your hand at casing a few jars of that strain and see what happens..

Hehe, I doubt I will be growing it anymore, unless I can produce some bigger caps to take a print. All the caps so far have been about 4 or 5 mm in diameter.

Even the small caps can produce spores. Plenty enough to grow more. Let them open then print them as normal.
I have observed smaller than normal mushrooms with the palenque strain on cakes. But, not all of them were that small. Check all your environmental conditions...
Honestly, the cake does not look healthy. Appears to be a humidity problem as the darkening mycelium will show it is dying. Then there apears to be blue-bruising of healthy (fluffy) growth that is possibly caused by a too-rich peroxide mix misting or watering...

Of course. Over 10% can harm mycelium and cause bluing. Sometimes even 10% if you mist alot and the surface is pretty colonized can harm the mycelium. The bluing could also be caused by drying at some point or handling. The cake looks like it has lots of primordia and looks like lack of fresh air to me..

#1 you have too much water in your perlite, take care or that problem first. It appears you have a very good pinset also. BTW long skinny stems combined with small caps is a classic sign of having too high a co2 level, more fanning will help. Also too low a light intensity will cause the stems to stretch. GL

^^^ what hyphae said. he knows his stuff, listen to him fellas.
i see knots knots galore on that cake buddy. yay !!! you just need to make sure your humidity is right, your air exchange is good, and your light is on 12/12 and you should be in business.
and like hyphae said, your water level is too high in your perlite. you humidity will raise if you fix this problem.
i want someone else to chime in here, but i believe getting rid of those early pinners will help out your pinset... it always seems to help with me. any suggestions people?
