I believe this specimen belongs to the family Agaricus. Some members of this family include the Horse mushroom, Meadow mushroom, and the common cultivated"store"mushroom. Most species in this family are edible and of good choice, but still, do some studying and be sure before you take my word for fact. You probably didn't intend to anyway, but still........... Stay cool!-Levi7.

Do not eat that!!!!!! That might be a killer. It looks like white angle which also grows on lawns near me. Definately not a magic mushroom. Do yourself a favor and get a good mushroom identification book. Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.Edited by GreenEarthBlood on 08/01/01 01:33 PM.

That appears to be a Meadow Mushroom. A choice edible.

white angel? :P is that anything like a destroing angel? i assure you that is not what this person has, looks nothing like it, it is an edible agaricus. GG is correct. the destroying angel lacks the pinkish gills. it has instead white gills

I believe destroying angels grow under trees in the woods. They also have a veil, they look a little taller and skinnier too.

Yeah that first one is certainly an edible agaricus, depending on where you found it, it is either a Cremini...stage before it becomes called Portobella...or a field mushroom. The biggest difference is whether or not it was found under a tree or out in the open, the Creminis are usually found under trees. But it is edible and pretty tasty. I found literally hundreds this season and ate my fair share...mmm...good...nothing like an Oyster...but still tasty. Cheers St Thomas
