East Bay fungus findings
    #3645774 - 01/18/05 09:04 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

all of these were collected at the local Cemetary. found growing from eucalyptus bark and various woodchips. I dont think i found any active mushrooms, although a couple that i found on woodchips did have purple spores, however did not bruise blue as far as i can see.
IDs?

i spore printed all of them, but the pictures came out shitty and out of focus.

Nice finds, the first three pics look like they are of the same species. Unable to take a guess, they look like lbm's.
the species in the 4th pic down could be Psathyrellas (some species of this genus have purplish spores). There are still other possibilities, might help to list a spore print color for each photo. In the 6th pic, the habitat and cap color seem consistent with the Hypholoma genus, possibly sulphur tufts. Were they one of the finds with purplish spores?

Coprinus is also a possibility for pic 4...
If the gills become fluid like (inky) then it is definitely a coprinus.

#4 looks like a psathyrella species to me, not coprinus.
#6 looks like hypholoma fasciculare, a very common and poisonous mushroom.

I definitely like photo #7, I love the contrasting mushrooms on the dull-coloured woodchips!

Yah man, possible in the east bay, but like most in CA, scarce. - search for the habitats, then go in for closer looks.
