Mycelium Growth (UPDATED WITH PIC)

I am in the process of my first grow a Verm & BRF mix and my jars started to grow mycelium in the first 2 weeks of inoculating and incubating. THey have now stopped and don't seem to be moving at all. DOes anyone have a method or a tip that I could use to speed up the mycelium growth or a reason why it could be happening. I did a search on here and could not really find anything helpful! Thanks everyone

More info... did they stall growth around 90%?.. You can try turning your jars upside down to drain CO2. This should help.

Any way you could post a pic? Does the substrate look dry at all? What temps are you incubating at?

Take the foil off and replace it with a coffee filter and turn them lid side down. This will help with the air exchange.

Won't taking off the foil leave it open to air-born contamination...??

Taking the foil off and replacing it with a coffee filter shouldnt take but a second or so.
The layer of dry verm on top of the cake will help in keeping contams out. With the rubberband around the foil there isn't any way for any air exchange.

You should get some 1/2 pint jars. Cups seem to be more complicated.

make sure ur keeping the jars in the dark. on my first attempt growing i never knew u had to do that, and they grew for about a week than they stopped and it almost looked like the mycelium started to dissolve. so i just covered them and they colonized 2 weeks later.
i cant be the only perosn who made that mistake...

ya definately open the jars up in a STERILE enviroment to allow some air exchange.. then dont check it too often try to maintain the temps of the jars constant.. check back in like 3 or so days.. should be ok

OK so once i put the coffee filters on should i put an elastic band around them and then turn them upside down. Or lose the bands????
Yep they are in the dark covered with 6 blankets to keep heat in and light out....

Yes place the elastic band around the coffee filter and turn upside down, like this...

Put them onto a sterile cookie rack, inside your incubator. That will allow better breathing room, if your jars look overly damp.
Excess water may be diluteing thier enzymes, (What they create to break-down, eat, thier food). If it takes longer for the enzymes to break down thier food, you will notice thier growth stall.
Also, Water absorbs CO2 better then air, this turns the water into CARBONIC ACID, which will destroy the enzymes before they digest the food.
Conclusion: Air circulation is a MUST at this point. (Waiting too long for colonization will cause more contamination than letting the air inside. The mycelium will out-grow the contamination at that point in development. Should!)
