Nice cacti,if the climate allows where you are you shouls put some of them in the ground next growing season. You'll be amazed how much more pedros perfer to be allowed to spread their roots and grow.

I'm not sure? I'm in southern australia we have maybe two or three frosts per winter and they do fine out doors. I dont think they'd like to be frozen for any prolonged period though.

I did an experiment this winter. 2 months prior to when it normally freezes here in GA, I put one of my cacti(pedro) in the ground. It was groing a LOT. I forgot about it for a long time. Temps dropped down to about 17F and hung around mid 20s the rest of the time. I checked last weekend... It's a pile of mush. If you read it can stand down to 15F, lies, all lies.
I wouldn't attempt outside planting anywhere north of zone 8 in the USA.

Ok, thanks for the info. I won't plant them outside if my seeds ever germinate I just started my first growing from seeds experience... I'm totally new to all this. I already love it
(-4C is 25F, so that's the minimum according to that site I posted above)

I've read several things from like 10F to 35F... Who knows what they can really handle?

ordering in winter/temp withstands of cacti [Re: ShroomOmatic]

i highly doubt they can handle below freezing for a long period of time or very fast or oscillating changes of temp below/above freezing. When i did read they could withstands temps to {blank} it was always for {blank} amount of time. I order my cacti through the mail with it below freezing probably around 25-30f and grew fine just order more but its like hovering around 0f hopefully it arrives not in "a pile of mush"
