Too much light?
    #3646193 - 01/18/05 10:02 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

Im starting my Incubation pocess and I am using a heater to keep the jars nice and warm. The only problem is that the heater is giving out a dim burning light. I read that the jars shouldnt be exposed to light. Do you think the heaters light will effect the growth of the Mycelial?

i have a small light on my heater that lets me know when it is on and off (automatic). So far It hasnt bothered my incubation. My incubation times are satisfactory, rye and pf.

wrap the jars in aluminum foil if you're worried about it.

Actually light during colonization is of little concern. The mycelium will continue in its vegetative state unhindered, until it colonizes all available substrate and encounters a "barrier". It is at this critical point when light should be restricted to fruiting surfaces only.

Pre-pinning is rare.

The lights usually red too...little affect on mycelium at any stage.

Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
How I do grain (old still good tips)
Turn your closet into a fruiting chamber
Casing layer colonization and overlay
