Dropping spores

When the vail breaks, how long does it take for it to start dropping spores? What happens if spores are dropped on the casing?

Spores start dropping within hours after the veil breaks. Once on the casing layer, a blanket of spores will create a less-then-desirable effect on your casing layer, inhibiting future flushes if it gets out of hand because it can cause the casing layer to get funky and/or seal. But that is worst case scenario if you let it get out of hand and every shroom in the flush is dropping heavy spores loads on your casing. In other words, you don't want spores all over the place if you can help it.

Just don't them mature to the point where your flush is dropping boatloads of spores everywhere, that's pretty much it.

Robots with veil breaking sensors that use the governments latest tracking visual technology. If you are short a couple billion for this project...
Just pick them way before they break, Wake up every few hours.
You could also make paper collars, like what they put on dogs to stop them from scratching thier ears, or biteing thier rump stitches.

IME this effect is overestimated.
I had casings violet/black from spores which still flushed normally the next flush.
But of course, there is no need to let this happen if you can monitor the casing at the time of fruitings.
