Scotts 3n1 Organic Compost - Substrate ratio question (need someone w/ experience)
    #3642627 - 01/18/05 09:12 AM (19 years, 2 months ago)

Hi,

I had some horse poo ready to go, but I left it in the sun (And in the grass) for like 2 weeks, so stuff grew into it, and well that option is no longer an option. So I went to home depot and bought some Scotts 3 in 1 Organic compost. I'm sure I can be sterile enough for it to work for me, however I am unsure as to what ratio of Vermiculite:3n1:Water to use. I was thinking 2:2:1, but I'm really not sure.

Does anyone reading this have any experience with any type of store bought compost/manure, and if so what kind of ratio did you use?

Thanks in advance.

I did, thx. I just wanted to get as many opinions as possible, since I'll be getting my 100% colonized jars back today (they're in someones refrigerator)

I was leaning towards just 50/50+, but bulk seems to = bigger, heavier fruits. I'll probably do 50/50+ on 1 casing and 3n1+50/50+ on another.

I wouldn't recommend you use any verm at all in 3in1. If you pastuerize it, just let it drain for a few hours and the water content should be right.

"A nation's hope of lasting peace cannot be firmly based upon any race in armaments but rather upon just relations and honest understanding with all other nations...

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..."
