This is my setup, hope you enjoy.... for first the incubator the lower box contains water, a water pump and a heater (both sumersible) front view the coolmist unit the inside internal view of the humidity duct with holes particular of the valve that regulate the amount of humid air particular of the exaust valve, to regulate the air exchanges per hour what do you think?

Hey Mon, That looks great. few questions how does the exaust work ? What is that thing that is mounted next to the vaulve that regulates the humid air.? how well dose the inncubator work.?

thanks guys...i knew you like it the exaust valve is simply a stopper with a window drilled on the side, of course also in the duct you must cut a window on side. Rotating the stopper opens or closes the windows, this way u regulate the air exchanges. that thing near the valve is a mini squirrel cage blower (a kind of fan) with a filter glued to the air intake. in my original setup i didn't include it, and the humidity level was too high, no matter what i tried. thist way you always get what you need because the constant air exchange is provided by the fan, and you only use the umidifier to increase rh levels The incubator works in the same way as the mcman's mushroom cultivator. in the lower tank are placed a water pump and a heater, both sumersible that i got from the pet store. the duct is connected to the pump so the water can circulate through the duct and heat the upper chamber, the re enter into the lower tank,,, if someone want to know total costs.. terrarium $12 cool mist unit $35 * fan $30* heater $35* water pump $30* pvc ducting 10$ styrofoam tanks 25$* other minor materials (glue, trasparent pvc etc) $5 * normally you can buy those products in usa for 35-45% less, maybe more less

mcman really thanks for your help....ist's like a MC nephew, just a bit weird:) really isn't finished btw, i'll integrate the incubator in the main structure, using styrofoam sheets, in the space below the terrarium, and in the floor i'll place the heating tank.

weellll...i'll be honest...my first crop was a totally desaster, all the pins formed in the sides of the substrate... but was my fault, the casing layer was too dry...and was my first growing attempt since i moved...more that 6 months ago...i loose some "eye", if you understand what i mean also with air circulation evaporation is very increased.... i need just to tune a bit the whole thing (the terrarium...and the grower:))

Man, that is truely beuatiful. I want to be able to do something like this, but before I do, I want to learn a bit more about electronics and circuit building. That way I could create a fully automated grow system. It would turn the humidity up or down, depending upon the current humidity in order to keep it around one given percentage. It would use a heating pad or a fish tank heater to keep the temperature at a certain point, and once it dropped below that point, the heater would kick back on until it was at the target temperature again. The light would be regulated, as would the fan. The fan would keep good air circulation, and also be utilized to keep the heat down in the tank once it started heating up. There would be a flourescent light that turns on and off according to the timer, that is built into the circuitry and adjusted using the digital display on the outside of the grow chamber. Every thing on it would be programmable with the digital display. You would use buttons to adjust where you want the humidity, the temperature, how much light, what hours the light should be on for. It would also have a water reservoir. Like 5 gallons of pure water stored up so I almost never have to refill. Oh hell, lets even include an automatic camers that will take a picture every day, or however often I want it to according to what I programmed. Every time It takes a picture, it will automatically transfer it onto my web server, for the world to see. I would archive all of the pictures taken of all f my shrooms on the server. and have a "up-to-the-minute" display of the shrooms on my website homepage. Ahhhhhhh, I wish I had the skills to do that. I know somebody who is like an electronics whiz, and could probably be able to do this with ease. The trouble would be in finding the input and output devices neccessry for the circuit (a humidity gauge, for example, that you can easily add to the circuit). This dude is a fucking genius when it comes to circuits. He has constructed gps navigated rockets. I know I am living in a dream world, and this is ok, because this is just a fantasy. Man, I am really eating up the bandwidth with this reply.

The only problem I have found with using that many PVC tubing to transfer cool moist air, Is Bactiria. Make sure you wash those tubes once a week with a antibac spray and H2o2.

i don't see all that danger.... if you fill the mister with a 10% h2o2 solution bacteria is the last of your problems (i guess) btw i use also coloidal silver to keep out contams, of course you choose between the 2... also coloidal silver doesn't break when nebulized as h2o2 does...

pyro, your project is amazing!! hope you can build it some day... but for automation the only thing you really need is a timer to switch lights on-off i fill the coolmist once a week, and for the humidity you need only to regulate the humidity valve once, when shifting from pinning parameters to cropping. that's all is an adjustment to do every 10-15 days....

Oh I know, with a timer and a couple other neat gizmos I could make a semi-automated grow chamber. I was pretty much kidding about my fully automated computerized terrarium. Fully automated sorta takes the fun out of it. Plus, It makes it feel like the shrooms are less dependant upon you for survival. Actually, why did I stop there? While I am building that, I should also add some legs so it can automatically fetch the water. Hmm. It'll have a motion sensor that will alert the terrarium of when someone/thing is near, and it will then transform into a, uhhh, coffee table, yes that'll do nicely. Hmm, it will be complete with scrubbing pads on it's feet for both traction, and so it can wash my dishes form me. it'll also be fully capable of vaccuming, doing the laundry, cleaning my bedroom, making my bed, cooking my food, etc. Oh hey, lets even equip it with a sliding window and a barometer and doplar radar to tell the weather forcast and open the window when it will be sunny so we can maximize the amount of natural light it recieves. These are all the major things it will be able it do, it will also be able to do much more. I will put these things into production, and the retail price will start at around $123,876.45. Not bad price when you consider all that is does.

I also have a good friend who is an electronics engineer, he's trying to design an automated temperature/humidity controller(and also on the drawing board, but... lacking in the parts department, a co2 controller {i.e. something so that you flush air out when co2 levels were on the rise}) anyways... that was his first question, the humidity gauge, but five minutes on the web he came up with some possibilites here... http://digikey.com/ maybe that can help! peace out, -protocoldroid

You are not living in a dream world, all those things you describe allready exist for years(decades). I can find you a company in one week that wll build you such a unit. The real problem is money. Everything involving measurment and controll goes into big money. Also the work involved it thorough designing, planing and programming goes into money. The industry can afford these costs when they produce something that gives them the money back in a reasonable time. You would probably have to produce edible mushrooms in your device for 100 years to reach the break even point.
